About Maxwell

Maxwell is a former Resident Assistant and Camp Counselor who has experienced life in and out of college. He has extensive experience teaching outdoor and environmental education, boating, soccer, and YMCA camp values at a summer camp. Maxwell works as a director for a local high school business camp in the summer now, so his availability for some summer assignments will have to be negotiated. Maxwell helped to train soccer players for his local middle school as well as the Central Washington University Women's Club Soccer team.

Maxwell enjoys reading and writing, and is comfortable giving general tutoring, specialized tutoring in any subject offered, and college prep advice. As an RA for Central Housing, Maxwell helped to support students with the transition from home to school, with basic college advising, and with proofreading and editing papers.

Maxwell presented two Philosophy papers in academic conferences, as well as Psychology research, and participated in the CWU Ethics Bowl team (Moral Kombat). He prides himself in his sense of humor, professionalism and patience.

Whether you are a student or a parent, Maxwell will work to win you over, and make learning fun while providing a diverse set of experience. Rate of tutoring is negotiable depending on distance traveled.

Maxwell is competent in elementary math, and proficient in teaching elementary students, as he taught marine science, reptile biology, ecology, and environmentalism to children ages five and up.

Maxwell was a Psychology major in college and can provide general or specific tutoring in psychology, counseling psychology, sports psychology, drug counseling, and developmental psychology.

Maxwell has been a bookworm nearly since birth. He specializes in Literature, and is a developed proofreader for early essays up to college introductory classes.

Maxwell successfully got into college, and has been helping his peers and residents ever since. He continues to offer advice for incoming freshmen, and aspires to be a school counselor in the future.

Maxwell has been playing soccer for nearly twenty years and has coached soccer off and on for eight years. He was a striker, goalkeeper, and defender and coached middle school soccer team. Maxwell has also offered one on one keeper training.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

As a student I was admitted to Central Washington University and received courses to help my success as a university student, such as Psychology of the Residence Halls (an RA course), and University 101. I continued to work with the Career Center for my own personal goals and to help support my residents as an RA. I gave specific and helpful advice to students attempting to get into college and for first year students during my 4-year stint as an RA and my 5 years as an undergraduate student.

Soccer

I have played soccer for nearly twenty years, received specialized training, and succeeded as a high school, college intramural, and club select soccer player.

I have coached soccer off and on since my senior project in high school, when I was the assistant coach of the middle school girl's soccer team, and have provided individual training for goal keepers at Central Washington University's Club teams.
