About Anne Marie

I am a chemical engineer from Texas that just relocated to Seattle. I really love scuba diving and learning new languages. My dad raised me speaking Spanish and I didn't realize the advantages until college where I pursued my minor in Spanish. I spent a year traveling South America and took a semester of classes in Chile this year simply because I enjoy the language so much. Teaching has always been a fun hobby. I tutored kids from middle school to high school during undergrad at UT Austin.

I remember it wasn't always easy to understand math or science the first time. I remember being confused with math in high school but when I understood it, it was great and made so much sense and explains the world around us. The reason I became an engineer wasn't because math and science were just easy, it's because it is interesting and very rewarding after learning it well. I hope to make that an experience for my students as well!

Having a good understanding of these subjects is critical to doing well in the next levels. I remember taking these classes and having to think differently for the first time. I have tutored both my siblings and their friends on these subjects.

As a chemical engineer, I took extensive chemistry classes. All these classes still referred to the basic principles of chemistry that I have applied in my job. I really enjoy chemistry and it's very easy to make connections with class topics and the real world.

I am fairly flexible on the weekend and weekdays and willing to travel to a good study spot.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Spanish

I have a Spanish minor from University of Texas at Austin.
