Vassar College (Music)
I love everything about learning - the process, helping others through it, and the satisfaction of that "lightbulb" moment. I believe that each student deserves a personalized approach, centered on connecting to the material at hand through creative strategies, whether they be pneumonic devices, visual aids, or anything else that helps our brains to remember important information.
In addition to my experience tutoring essay writing, biology, and Spanish in high school and college, I have taught group and private clarinet lessons to beginner and intermediate players. My experience as a summer camp counselor and a Residence Hall Counselor has given me the tools to connect with young people and creating a safe space that will help them feel comfortable exploring, making mistakes, and learning from them.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Hispanic Studies, lived in Madrid for 6 months during college, and at my last job, communicated with parents and students in Spanish.
Vassar College puts a strong emphasis on its students' ability to write thoughtfully, clearly, and concisely. All of my undergraduate classes required a thorough understanding of the English language and how to employ it effectively to convey your message.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Music, with a focus on performance. Throughout my time as a music major, I volunteered to teach beginning students at the local middle school and often ran sectionals in our College and Community Wind Ensemble.
I can't wait to get started and learn together. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have about my background. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Andrea is fabulous. My daughter has been struggling in Spanish. Andrea met with her, assessed the needs, and mapped out a plan to tackle her weak areas one by one. My daughter made so much progress in just one hour! Definitely recommend.
Andrea is fantastic. She's brilliant, articulate, intelligent, and fun to be around. I'm definitely looking forward to our next session together.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
