About Charles

I have been tutoring ESL/ESOL for nearly twenty years now, and working with many different ages and nationalities. I enjoy language and teaching English to other people, whether they be students, professionals, or new immigrants. It is always exciting and rewarding to help someone learn to think and communicate in a new language.

While I have both classroom teaching and tutoring experience, and enjoy both, I have a preference for tutoring one-on-one or small groups (3 to 5 people). Getting to know the student as an individual can help me fit the teaching to the needs of that person more easily.

I have an MA-TESOL from Seattle Pacific University (2000), with a Certificate for ESL Teaching from Washington Academy of Languages. From 2000-2002, I was an adjunct instructor at Washington Academy of Languages, and have since tutored many individuals from middle school to working professionals.

To learn more about me, and to find out if I can assist you in your English learning goals and schedule lessons, please feel free to contact me.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
