University of Minnesota (Wildlife Biology)
Hello! My name is Jorgan, I hail from the frozen wasteland of northern Minnesota but have made Seattle my home for over 5 years! When I was in college I was a TA/Tutor for a great Biology class that got students outside understanding the natural world. I then went on to spend 3 years out exploring the natural world myself, studying owls in the mountains of California! I was a math/science geek all through school (a very fun & hip one) and still love talking about those topics.
I am currently taking classes to get a Masters in Teaching degree from the University of Washington. One day I might be your favorite nerdy high school science teacher! While I'm training to become a full-time teacher tutoring is something I love to do. I love to get excited about learning and share that enthusiasm. My teaching style is very hands-on/up out of the seat. I also love to relate the topic to a student's pre-existing interests to keep engaged by playing off of their own history.
My schedule is very flexible! Let get together some time that works for you and see if we are a good student and teacher match. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Minnesota, 3.42 GPA. I have worked in the field and also been a TA for a college level Biology class. I can help you talk though just about any topic within that subject and I am also generally very well versed in the sciences.
I have a degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Minnesota which has as much Ecology in the curriculum as Biology. I know the ins and out of how our natural world works, from nutrient cycling to human effects on our planet. I taught these topics at a college level in a class called "Nature in the City" at the University of Minnesota. I live and breathe Ecology, and I am currently taking an advanced Ecology course from the American Museum of Natural History to stay current on the topic.
