About Charlotte

As an academic counselor and international student advisor, I have experience working with both U.S. high school and college students and international students studying in the United States. I've worked as a freshman admissions reader at University of California Santa Cruz, and love to share my insider's perspective of the admissions process. As a writing coach, I've worked with hundreds of students on their personal statements. I'm passionate about helping students navigate the college admissions process and share their stories through writing. I'm also a published writer and editor.

I have also taught college level classes in history and government in the U.S. and abroad.

I look forward to working one-on-one with students on their writing projects and helping them to feel engaged in the social sciences.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

As an academic advisor, I have provided students with career counseling, helping them to choose the right major and explore other career opportunities. I have edited resumes and cover letters and have spoken about helping students to find an internship at national education conferences.

College Counseling

I began my career as an educator as an undergraduate writing tutor at Seattle University. I have read over 2,000 freshman applications as an admissions reader for University of California and have worked as an academic advisor for international students for the last four years. I have also served as a reader for the Questbridge National Scholarship and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (2015). In addition, I provided training on essay advising for Americorps volunteers placed in local high schools through College Access Now (CAN), a community-based organization helping low income students in Seattle attend and graduate from college. I am passionate about helping students find their voice and share their stories through their college essays. In addition to essay coaching, I can help students with the entire college application process.

Government & Politics

I am an adjunct professor in political science at Broward College in Florida. I have taught US Government, the American Constitution, World History, US History and International Relations. I did my master's of science in politics at Stockholm University in Sweden, where I studied international politics with a focus on the European Union.

Political Science

I have a Master of Science degree in political science from Stockholm University after receiving a Fulbright fellowship from the U.S. Department of State. My master's thesis is on the European Union. I have recently taught college-level courses in U.S. government and politics.
