Incheon Political College/Everett community college (Aviation Engineering)
My name is Yun and I am a native Korean speaker who immigrated to the US 9 years ago. I originally came here to pursue education in aviation engineering, but as time went by I realized it was not my passion. I am very passionate about teaching and would like to use my language skill to show people the beauty of the Korean language and culture and how that relates to living in America.
As your tutor, you can expect someone who is patient, will move at your pace, and will try and mold a lesson plan based on what your personal goals are. If you are learning Korean to be able to converse with friends or family we can do that, or if you are more interested in learning some of the technical aspects, we can do that too. I am looking forward to working with you and helping you realize your goals. Additionally, I can tutor students who are learning English as their second language. As a former international student, I know the challenges learning English present and have tutored privately in the past to Korean speakers who are looking to improve their English abilities. My philosophy is to make learning enjoyable and not a chore. People want to learn for many different reasons and it is my challenge to find what makes each student motivated and excited to learn.
I have over 5 years of experience as a tutor. In Korea, I worked as a tutor in a "hackwan", which allowed me to work one on one with students and helped them to improve their skills. My specialty was in teaching English and I have always had a knack for languages. I also work as an interpreter and have contracted with various companies to interpret and translate for Korean speakers where English is their second language. Currently, I am working as a Korean language instructor at St. Andrew Kim Catholic Church as a part of a Korean embassy-sponsored Korean language program. I currently teach both high school and kindergarten age students.
I am available to tutor Korean language instruction as well as teaching English to speakers of other languages. While I don't hold any specific credentials, I am pursuing my certifications in translation and interpretation for both medical and court interpretation. I also have prior tutoring experience along with life experience as a former international student. I hope you will consider me as your teacher and I look forward to getting started!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I believe I am qualified to teach ESL as I have had experience in tutoring students in the past. Additionally, I have lived in the United States for the past 10 years and have participated in higher education where I obtained a degree whiles solely speaking English. I have a unique understanding of the challenges that students face while learning English as their second language and believe I can offer a different perspective than a native English Speaker.
I am a native speaker in Korean as I was born there and immigrated to the United States 9 years ago. I have a background in tutoring in both Korea and here in Seattle. I am currently a Korean teacher to both high school age students as well as Kindergarten students at the St. Andrew Kim Korean language school.
