I enjoy math and science very much, and I find breaking down complicated problems to a step-by-step approach to be very effective for my own learning as well as for tutoring.
Over the past two years I've enjoyed assisting some very exceptional students. One is now attending SPSCC's running start program at the age of 11. Basically, she learned algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2 in one year from age 10 to 11 just from home schooling.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I have published numerous articles in peer reviewed scientific journals on topics where analysis of differential equations is investigated. Much of my research work involves aspects of differential equations which refer directly to material learned from courses (undergraduate and graduate level) on this branch of mathematics.
Finite Math,

Finite Math

I worked at a tutoring center as an undergraduate student for several years where I tutored all mathematics courses through differential equations and vector calculus. I also tutored mathematics privately for many years, including finite mathematics. My undergraduate degrees are in mathematics and physics and my Ph.D. is in applied mathematics. I have taught several lower level mathematics courses as a graduate student, up to and including calculus.

Trigonometry,

Trigonometry

The basic concepts of trigonometry are constructed and derived from geometric principles, but once the student has gone through the formal definitions and constructs, trigonometry is then seen to fit into an enormous class of problems of both statics and dynamics. For scientists and engineers, a working knowledge of trigonometry is essential. With this in mind, I think a student new to learning trigonometry should be exposed to some typical applied problems, and not merely walk through the formalism from first principles.

Help for Algebra II

Thank you for helping my son understand logarithms. Will definitely use Mike again. Mike was very prompt at replying to our need for a tutor. He spent extra time helping.

Mylene, 1 lesson with Mike

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Mike was able to identify where the weak point is for my daughter and was able to bring her back to where she might have missed some important steps. He is able to explain process and steps in a way my daughter is able to understand how to solve her current honors precalculus worksheets. My daughter is able to engage in Mike's way of teaching.

Nanette, 4 lessons with Mike

Knowleable and efficient.

I like how Mike is Considerate enough to be as efficient with time as possible because I had to travel a good distance for my tutoring. And he is very speedy we were able to cover almost all math problems in both ACT and SAT test prep guides.

Alicia, 1 lesson with Mike

Super helpful

Mike jumped on very short notice and was able to help my son prepare for his Algebra II test. He was able to quickly assess where he was having problems and fill in the gaps. At the end of the session my son felt much more confident and prepared to take his test.

Christina, 1 lesson with Mike

knowledgeable and patient tutor

Mike has been a great tutor to my 2 daughters for AP Physics. He is also helping my younger daughter in Calculus. He takes time to explain the subject matter until they completely understand the lessons.
