I graduated with my Masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in Spring of 2017. Before enrolling in the Masters program, I obtained my TESOL certificate from The School of Teaching ESL.
Since I received my certificate, I have been gaining varied teaching experience, from subbing to teaching regular classes at intensive English programs to conversation class in summer camps for youth. I currently teach at an intensive english program in the afternoons.
You set your English language goals and I help you achieve them, whether it's IELTS or TOEFL preparation or improving conversational English.
If you need help with the material from an ESL class you are enrolled in, I can help you with that course work.
If you want to improve your conversation skills, we can practice having natural conversations.
I am very patient and clear and can help you feel more comfortable speaking and being understood.
I also tutor native English speakers in any English-related subject such as writing.
Please feel free to write and ask me any questions you may have.
Good luck in your English studies!

Christie has been working with my five-year-old daughter, teaching her some basics on chess. She's been giving her a strong foundation while having fun together, and my daughter really looks forward to the lessons. My daughter would never sit with me for an hour to learn about chess, but happily does it with Christie. She frequently counts the number of points she has when playing with me now!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I learned how to play chess when I was about five years old. I competed in tournaments throughout my childhood. I continued playing chess socially throughout community college and still love to play today, although it's hard to find people to play competitively with, because I usually win! Over the years, I have developed good strategies for teaching people how to improve their chess game in fun and engaging ways.
