University of Vriginia
I am an undergraduate Computer Engineering student at the University of Virginia who will be starting full-time at Microsoft at the end of the Summer (I interned there last summer). I am someone who likes to keep busy, and I thoroughly enjoy helping others learn the subjects that I love (math and computer science of course). I will be available to this winter break (until January 19th) and this summer between my graduation date and my start date at Microsoft (May-August). I tutor in the following math, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering topics:
I tutor in the following math levels:
I am proficient in the following computer science languages:
Signals and Systems
I have prior experience tutoring and thoroughly enjoy teaching others. I am a Senior (or fourth-year as we say at UVa) majoring in Computer Engineering and minoring in Business at the University of Virginia. I have a 3.69 GPA.
I have a strong background in math: In high School I scored a 760 on the SAT math section, and took Calculus AB and BC, scoring a 5 on both AP exams. In college I have taken Discrete Mathematics, Multivariate Calculus, Differential Equations, and several Electrical Engineering courses (which build off Calculus and Differential Equations).
I have experience coding in the above mentioned languages. I have taken and received A's in the following courses:
- Introduction to Computer Science
- Software Development
- Program and Data Representation (covers Data Structures and representation in memory )
- Introduction to Embedded Systems (covering C programming)
- Web and Mobile Development (covering web and Android application development)
- Advanced Software Development.
Method and Approach:
I am an energetic and patient tutor. I really do enjoy tutoring, both because I love the subjects I am studying and because it is truly fulfilling to help someone learn. I believe that anyone can improve their math and computer science skills with the right kind of approach and some practice (the same goes for electrical engineering). I cater my methods to however the student learns best and feels most comfortable. I have good communication skills and am passionate about the subject areas I tutor in. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a fourth-year at the University of Virginia studying Computer Engineering and have taken several courses where I have become proficient in C++. I also worked for Microsoft this past summer where I coded in C++. I will be returning there full-time at the end of this summer where I will continue to code in C++.
I have taken Intro to Computer Science, Software Development Methods, Advanced Software Development, Program Structure and Data Representation (C++ Programming), Web and Mobile, Operating Systems, and several lower level programming classes at the University of Virginia where I am pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. I have a 3.7 GPA.
I also worked for Microsoft this past summer as a Software Engineering Intern. I will be returning there full-time at the end of this summer and will be working as a Software Engineer. When I worked there this past summer, I worked with other developers to program a feature for Excel.
I tutor in Computer Programming by essentially covering any basic CS subjects that the student may need to learn or have refreshed. I then move on to covering the best algorithms and approach to employ to solve specific problems. After this, I explain the relevant syntax and ultimate implementation.
I am a fourth-year at the University of Virginia studying Computer Engineering and have taken several courses where I have gained significant experience in Computer Science. I also worked for Microsoft this past summer where I worked as a Software Engineering Intern. I will be returning there full-time at the end of this summer and will be working as a Software Engineer.
On the SAT I received a score of 760 on the Math section. I have a very solid understanding of all the levels of math that are tested on the SAT. I am currently taking Differential Equations at UVA where I am an engineering undergraduate.
