And now for something completely different. I am intelligent, creative, organized, and patient. My specialties are mainly computer and language based. I can give you insider tips and secrets on a variety of subjects. Teaching you to work smarter not harder is my goal, and we may have some fun while we're at it.
As for my credentials: I've worked as a mid-level Visual Designer at a top online retailer, and as a production designer and illustrator. I have an AAS is Graphic Design, and a certificate in print and graphic production. This is in addition to my Bachelor's Degree in Media Arts from University of Arizona, and many credits in web design from a few years ago.
If you are coming to me for help in Adobe CS you should have your own computer with the program(s) you want to learn installed. I will bring my own mac laptop with CS6 Design Standard (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat), Lightroom 4, and CS3 Web Design programs. I can come up with a lesson plan and provide files for you to work on side by side, or we can work on your your own projects depending on your level/experience with the software.
If you are coming to me for help in Spanish. I lived in South America several years of my life and specialize in conversational Spanish. I taught Spanish at Berlitz and am comfortable teaching in a full immersion method, or in partial immersion if necessary for the student. I have tutored 2 college level 1st and 2nd year students and helped them bring up their grades significantly in a few sessions. I also could have minored in Spanish, had I only taken one more class. My Spanish has no form of an American or "Gringo" accent.
My students have a wide age range. I have taught skiing to 4 year olds, Spanish to those in their 20-40s, and done tech support for all ages. I have worked in tech support and customer service for over 10 years which definitely attests to my patience!
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this. I look forward to meeting you. And now for something completely different. I am intelligent, creative, organized, and patient. As for my credentials:
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My favorite program in CS is Illustrator, and I use it for most things people would grab a pencil and paper for. I am great at turning sketches and photos into vector art, and am up to date on current design trends.
Regularly helping my classmates with general Illustrator usage, as well as cleaning up and formatting their files so they would print correctly was part of my everyday life in school.
I am confident that I can help you learn Illustrator, or upgrade your Illustrator skills.
While the Lightroom interface can be daunting at first, editing in Lightroom is considerably easier than editing in photoshop. I can help you have better photos right away. Does your subject appear dark against a super bright background? I can help with that as well as numerous other things. Photos you thought were unsalvageable can be salvaged.
Lightroom also helps you to catalog and organize all of your photos, and does so in a more efficient way than other programs. I can help you get your files in a logical order and in a way they won't eat up your entire computer.
I have been using Photoshop for basic photo editing and touch ups for over 15 years. And I have had graphic production jobs where my main duties were editing/compositing photos and creating ads in Photoshop. I have an AA in graphic design, and have taken several college courses in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and CC. These courses included advanced masking and compositing. I regularly would help my classmates with tips and tricks to edit their own photos. All of my friends and family use me as their unofficial photo editor.
I have had a mac as the primary computer in my household since 1992.
I specialize in conversational and travel Spanish. I have taught immersion style Spanish at Berlitz, and tutored beginning college level students in Spanish.
My accent in Spanish is considered "Coastal South American" Also, I speak at a nearly native level without an American accent.
