My name is Matthew and I hope I can be a tool for your success! I am currently a design engineer for The Boeing Company and have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in engineering. I have been tutoring friends, family, and classmates for as long as I can remember so I figured I should probably try getting paid for it for a change.
My strong points would be Math (Pre-algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calc, Calc, Geometry, and Trig) and Language Arts (Reading, Writing, and Vocab). I know that everyone learns differently so the same method can't be used for every student but I've done well figuring out what works for each student individually.
Outside of my job and tutoring my other interests include snowboarding (just started last year), dancing (hip-hop and contemporary for the past 8 years), and reading books.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The algebra 1 curriculum generally consists of graphing equations, inequalities, quadratic formulas, solving algebraic equations, and a few other topics as well. I am well versed in all of the above as well as algebra 2, and pre-algebra topics in case you have questions which extend outside of the scope of algebra 1.
Congruent triangles, perpendicular bisectors, complementary angles, and even the infamous geometry proofs can be tackled very quickly and efficiently once the theory behind them is understood. During my geometry sessions, I try to get my students to understand this theory by applying real world situations as opposed to hypothetical ones.
