Hi, my name is David. I have worked as a math tutor for several years. In fact, I began my tutoring career shortly after I graduated from college. I have also worked as an assistant teacher for two colleges in the Seattle area, and I have taught Read more

He approaches every problem with excitement. Patiently walks you through all steps to solving the problem and uses the next problem to test your understanding. Innate teaching skills. Great tutor - easy to chat with - great person. You'll look forward to your tutoring sessions with David.

David is tutoring my 7th grade son in pre-Algebra. He is not only able to cover a lot of material in an hour, he is also able to pinpoint where my son needs the most help and adjust his computation methods to match those of my son's teacher so that things are consistent. Additionally, my son really likes David and feels like the tutoring is really helping him. My son recently moved up a level to a new math class, and David's tutoring has been a big factor in my son's success (he is currently earning a solid A). I highly recommend David!!

I have been working with David for a few months now and I would definitely recommend him. He is very willing to help out and is very easy to coordinate schedules with. He definitely knows how to work well with students and has the patience to work well with anyone. I am definitely keeping him as a contact for future reference.

Subject: pre-cal 2 college level

David is very flexible in his approach. He will guide and assist you however is best for your particular way of learning.

He has a great way of explaining problems that at first seem super complex. By the end you're left with the easiest way to approach the equation and answers. He has definitely helped me gain confidence in my abilities to do these problems. Passing grade has increased since undertaking help from him.

He's never pushy or rushed and is a great communicator. He's super quick to get back to my messages and always available to help. He's very personable and makes you feel comfortable in all the material presented.

Highly recommended David for your tutoring needs.

David was very quick to understand where I needed help and very knowledgeable. He explained things in a way I could understand. Very helpful.

My son said he has never had a teacher so involved with how well he understands

the topic at hand. He really appreciates David going over things with him and also giving him the time to do problems for himself to see if he really gets it or not. It makes a difference!

Help to understand the basic concept. Went over couple of examples and demonstrated the correct way to solve the problem.

David is extremely good at explaining problems so I can understand them. He uses a digital scratchpad so the time to write out problems is fast and he will make sure I understand the material. Very patient and is generally interested in making sure his students succeed.

My son texted me after the tutoring session and said "My tutor is awesome." He can explain things where my son understands.

David tutored my 16-year old son for Intro to Statistics this past fall semester. He was 100% reliable, always arriving on time and also flexible when we needed to change the time due to basketball practices, etc. David approached tutoring from a very positive perspective and was intuitive about finding the best methods to help my son - who ended up with a solid understanding of statistics and a much better grade than he would have otherwise had.

I am writing this review to express my satisfaction with the services I receive from my tutor David. He is an excellent source of knowledge and experience. I am in a doctoral program which requires critical thinking and multifaceted analyses of the subjects involved in my studies. He provides that academic liaison for me in a very skillful manner.

David is an excellent tutor in recognizing and accommodating his student's strengths and weaknesses. He takes his time to adjust his teaching to my learning speed, so that I can build in the areas in which I need improvement. Since I have been working with him, my confidence level has increased. I get good feedback from my instructors for all the assignments that I turn.

I am grateful to know him and to work with him, and I recommend him to anyone who needs help with math or writing for all academic levels.

Since my stat course was pretty much self-study, I needed someone to work me through problems and explain the concepts to me. David was a good tutor for such a job. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and always willing to help. I've worked with him for my stat class and he helped me through the quarter to get a good grade.

Meeting with David for the first time was a success after having horrible experiences with past tutors. He helped me understand topics that I needed clarification on and we worked on my own homework problems as well as examples which he made up. I will definitely be contacting him again to help me get through Calculus.

David is very friendly and encouraging. Very fair with pricing our sessions. Instantly cooperative when I butt in to show him how I learn better whether it be asking him to slow down, interrupting him to go back to something else I hadn't understood, or asking for the pencil so he can watch/help me try to work a problem instead of just showing me how it is done (though that's helpful too).

I spend an hour a week with him going over my homework assignments and we go step by step through every problem. It's very helpful and beneficial.

Math:

ACT Math,
Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math includes Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Plane Geometry, and Trigonometry. I am well versed in all of these subjects, and I have detailed knowledge of the structure and content of the ACT. Also, I can provide test taking strategies to help students to maximize their score.

Introduction to variables, expressions and formulas. Integers and monomials. Solving linear equations and inequalities with one variable. Linear equations with two variables.

Equations with two variables, Quadratic equations, Factoring complex expressions, Exponents and polynomials

Calculus is the language of engineering and science. The two principle components of calculus are rates of change and areas or volumes under curves. When I began my undergraduate career, I tested out of two semesters of calculus and began my freshman year in calculus III which is basically multivariate and vector calculus. I am very good with this material, and it was a major part of my undergraduate curriculum as a physics major.

Lines, Planes, Angles, Polygons

Number Line, Integers, Algebraic reasoning, Fractions

Working with complex expressions, Complex numbers, Equations and their graphs

I have detailed knowledge of all the fundamental aspects of probability. These include, but are not limited to: addition rules, multiplication rules, independence, tree diagrams, disjoint events (mutually exclusive), conditional probability, and the application of Bayes rule. Two of my specialties at the college where I tutor are probability and statistics. Many students of nursing and behaviorial science come to the tutoring center for help with these subjects.

SAT math involves the subjects of algebra, number and set theory, plane and coordinate geometry, trigonometry, functions, percents, and even some data analysis, probability, and sequences. I have tutored a number of students who were preparing for the SAT, ACT, and GRE. I have detailed knowledge of the subjects covered on the exam, as well as knowledge of the test format. I bring actual SAT practice problems to my test prep tutoring sessions so that students become familiar with the types of problems they will see on the test.

Statistics is my number one specialty at the college where I tutor. Because we have so few statistics tutors on staff, I spend a significant amount of time at the college working with students on statistics. I am well versed in all aspects of introductory statistics, including probability. My knowledge includes, but is not limited to: sampling methods, types of distributions, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, comparing two means, proportions, z and t statistics, linear regression, multiple regression, ANOVA, and nonparametric tests. I have probably spent more time as a private tutor working with statistics students than any other subject.
