"The profit we possess after study is to have become better and wiser." [ Michel de Montaigne ]
As a teacher and as a writer, I am intrigued by the opportunities we have to learn from others and likewise to share what we have learned. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington, and with a master's degree in education from the same institution, I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to teach and tutor. It has always been rewarding to meet so many wonderful people in this exchange of ideas and skills.
I am an ESL teacher with many years of experience in teaching academic, professional and conversational English. I've enjoyed teaching students from 6 years old to 80. I focus on what individuals need to communicate, and find the best way for them to learn how to do it--and have some fun along the way.
I am also an experienced writer. I have always depended primarily on writing in the work that I do, and I know writing backwards and forwards, what's easy, what can seem difficult, and why. I've done technical, professional, and academic writing, and have taught and coached those areas as well. I can teach you how to write successful essays, reports, term papers, resumes, and others works.
I assure you, you'll be in good hands. I am available evenings and weekends only. "The profit we possess after study is to have become better and wiser." [ Michel de Montaigne ]

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am well experienced in routine and intermediate use of DOS for executing operations on a PC as well as creating batch files for repeated or automatic processes.
I received a Master of Education degree for ESL from the University of Washington quite a few years ago. I then taught intensive English for Professionals full time in a well-respected language institute in Tokyo for 2 years. Upon returning to the U.S. I taught a variety of courses at a business college, as well as ESL full time for about 2 years, and part time for another 6 years.
After a hiatus over the past several years, while doing computer support and management, I've taken up tutoring ESL again part time over the past couple of years. I enjoy it greatly, and am proud to have met some wonderful students.
