My interests have always centered around language, and I have studied a number of them including Spanish, Korean, and Japanese at the college level. I hold a Bachelors degree in Japanese, and I have 3 years experience tutoring both English and Japanese. I try to engage students by making meetings enjoyable, and tailoring lessons so that student's needs are met. I am dedicated, efficient, and looking forward to having the chance to work with you!

Our daughter always looks forward to her time with Amanda. Amanda is able to zoom in on the skills our daughter needs the most practice with. She helps introduce new study methods, inspires practice and is a positive influence. I can't say enough good things about the time our daughter has spent with Amanda!
We are so thankful for Amanda. My sons grades have improved thanks to her. I wish we could have her over every night to help him with all assignments. I know this sounds awful, but the reality of the situation is that we (parents of student) don't have the patience to help him.
As a former teacher, I can say that Amanda is thoughtful, knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and a pleasure to work with. I look forward to future sessions!
Amanda has been teaching me English as a second language for almost 2 months. We're doing great, the progress is noticeable from lesson to lesson. She sensed really well what I should practice, what the grammar problems were, what we needed to deal with. She can realize precisely what is unnecessary to spend time with so we can concentrate on my gaps. She is so nice and customer-centered. For instance I'm new in town so she offered me that we can have our lessons at different cafes so I can get to know the city better! She's also taking care about my progress outside our lessons, such as reading and correcting my letters about my favorite topics, making me homework and practice sheets. I'd really recommend her to everybody. She is really patient so I think she is amazing with kids too, but if you are an adult you're going to discover a great chatting partner and person when you meet her.
My daughter has been working with Amanda for 2 months now on Japanese. Amanda is punctual, has a lesson plan prepared, works to complete what my daughter needs to cover for class, has a personality that is easy to warm up to, and is great with kids. She quickly noticed my daughter's interest in Adventure Time and drew some characters to set up dialogs with. I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
