About Max

I currently attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. I'm in Seattle during the summer every year. I can help with almost anything music related, computer related, or English related, and I'm also available for chess tutoring. I'm a drummer. That is my forte. I can help with anything drumming-related. I've taught private drum lessons for three years now, since I was 16 years old. I've performed at Lincoln Center alongside Wynton Marsalis, and toured Europe last summer. I currently attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. I'm in Seattle during the summer every year. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I played baseball from when I was too young to hold a bat without the help of my dad to my senior year in high school. I was debating whether to go to college for music or baseball up until my junior year of high school, when I chose music. I've played on countless teams and have been coached/taught by some of the best in the Northwest.

Chess

I've played chess since I was about 8 years old. I was in chess clubs in school all the way up until 9th grade, when I ran out of time due to music. I am a member of the US Chess Federation, and was ranked at 113th best chess player in the state of Washington in 7th grade for players under the age of 18.

Drums

I have been playing drums professionally in the Seattle area for over five years now. I recently graduated with a degree in drum set performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I've toured Europe, and performed at Lincoln Center in New York alongside Wynton Marsalis. I've also played with the late James Moody, the late Rashied Ali(John Coltrane), and many other greats. I play jazz and afro-cuban/Brazilian music primarily, but I've performed with symphonic orchestras, rock bands, hip hop groups, etc.

General Music

I graduated from Berklee College of Music and have been performing and teaching professionally for over 8 years.

Macintosh

I've been using Mac computers since I was 8 years old. I was also required to use an Apple laptop for my time at Berklee College of Music, where I used it for tons of music/video projects as well as more basic computing needs. My friends and family come to me when they need help with their Mac computers.

Music History

I graduated from Berklee College of Music and have taken many types of music history classes. I also study music history for my own enjoyment outside of school.

Music Theory

I've graduated from Berklee College of Music, where music theory is a large part of the core curriculum.

Sight Singing

I go to Berklee College of Music, and sight singing makes up half of our grade in Ear Training, which is a required series of courses. I'm on the Dean's List, and have an A in Ear Training.
