University of Washington (History)
I have a lifetime love of learning which I enjoy passing on to students. My degree is in history from the University of Washington, and I read widely in history, biography, and English literature. Over the past few years, I have assisted in elementary classrooms, helping students with reading and with math. I coached fifth and sixth-grade Math Olympiads teams for three years, and my teams have won multiple medals in the spring Washington State Mathematics Council Middle School Math Olympiad.
I specialize in elementary and middle school English (reading, writing, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, grammar) and will also tutor in elementary school math (up to and including pre-algebra) and other elementary school subjects such as science and social studies. I feel that students do best with individual attention and assessments, and I strive to provide a challenging yet comfortable environment for learning.
I have a 4-hour cancellation policy, and I am happy to reschedule missed sessions. I can meet at my home, at a student's home, or at any quiet and comfortable study space.
I look forward to meeting you and assisting you with your educational goals! I have a lifetime love of learning which I enjoy passing on to students. My degree is in history from the University of Washington, and I read widely in history, biography, and English … Read more
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
