If you are looking for someone who is experienced in tutoring math and computer science, you are at the right place. A bit of background about myself: I studied Accounting and Management Information Systems in college and moved-on to working with MS SQL Server, data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView, and Sisense, and applications development for 9+ years at a professional services and technology firms. I have a Master's degree in Instructional Technology and have tutored both children and adults in private and group settings over the past 15 years, with subject areas including math, MS Office Suite, MS SQL Server, piano, Chinese, and arts and crafts. While not everything was smooth-sailing, each of the experiences were unique and helped me improve as a mentor.

What I love the most about tutoring is helping individuals improve and realize their potentials. The "Aha" moment is not only exciting for the students, but also brings a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to me as one of the people who helped to make it happen. My format of teaching includes a combination of lectures with examples/demos, hands-on practices, and occasional quizzes. These allow students to gain a better understanding of the topics discussed and an opportunity to ask any questions that may arise during the practice session. My style of teaching emphasizes on understanding the materials (rather than just memorizing) through nurturing interest in the subject. One example would be when I created a scavenger hunt for a group of kids, where the solutions to a series of math problems helped them find the ultimate "treasure." Another example was when I tutored adults in my MS SQL class (which could be a dry topic to sit through in a lecture) by introducing them to a case study that is closely aligned to their role in the company; this, in addition to examples of how MS SQL can be used in conjunction with other tools to solve the issues at hand, kept everyone interested and focused on the learning.
