About Henrique

Tutoring has been part of my entire life - ever since grade school, helping and receiving help from other students in math subjects, all the way to college education, and engaging in clinical sessions with adults. I believe tutoring to be an honorable position, with the ultimate goal to have a student being able to excel in the subject without the need of a tutor no longer.

Through Elementary and Middle school, I did extracurricular Math through the Kumon method, to the point of being 3 years ahead of my current grade. At this point, I was assisting the center as well with current students struggling with the subject. During college, I was constantly involved with Physics through the university's tutoring centers, along with Philosophy (logic) and Math, accumulating over 500+ hours of tutoring on college alone.

I have also worked with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes regarding their reading and comprehension courses as a clinician. I have acquired exposure to teaching students in various positions in the autistic spectrum, along with extreme age ranges, varied from 4 to 50+ years old students. This position has yielded me another 1000+ hours of instruction. Though I no longer practice the Lindamood-Bell method, I am still well-versed with their style of learning.

I strongly believe in hard work, alternate approaches to problems, and learning as a skill, so that students can excel not only on their subject, but on any skill they yearn to acquire in their future.

I have taken several different levels of Math in my university, as several of my electives were still junior and senior-level math-related courses. From Calculus I to Matrices and Differential Equations II, I have seen calculus applied in multiple ways and forms, giving me the opportunity to experiment several approaches to problem-solving.

As a Bachelor of Science in Physics, I applied all of my Mathematics background at exceedingly high levels of Physics, including Thermodynamics, Electromagnetic Theory, and Quantum Mechanics. My Philosophy background involves logic classes, along with alternative topics, which helped me develop a deeper appreciation for my Physics theories as well.

I was born in Brazil, and lived there until the age of 15. I still practice Portuguese on a daily to weekly basis, and continue to be in contact and aware of current events in my home country.

I always take on tutoring as a challenge - both for me and the student - in the hopes of learning together and deepening our knowledge. No matter the age, background, or challenges, everyone deserves a chance to learn and develop themselves.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

While in Central Washington University, I have taken the classes Differential Equations I and II. I have also taken Electromagnetic Theory I, II and III, along with Quantum Mechanics I and II, which heavily rely on these topics. Some of these classes were taken as elective courses.

Prealgebra

I have worked with Math and Physics throughout my entire college career, including Prealgebra.
