Hi, my name is Hans and I would like to introduce myself. My tutoring methods involve structuring lesson plans that revolve around a students interests and strengths, as well as using Steck-Vaugn's Core Skills Language Arts Books (materials provided). I find that the core practice for improving reading comprehension and reading in general is increased exposure as well as expanding ones vocabulary. Meanwhile, improving writing ability is first making sure the student possesses a solid foundation of basic sentence structure as well as an understanding of context and grammar. As for my experience, I graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Washington in June 2005, I also earned a certificate in technical writing as well at Bellevue College (located in Bellevue, WA) in April 2011. I've tutored students from 7-14 years old, mainly children of friends or family. I've also worked with students with developmental disabilities such as Autism and Down Syndrome during the Summers of 2001 and 2002 at Seattle's Children's Hospital. This work was mainly supervision, going on public outings, and doing in-class activities involving cognitive stimulation and basic life skills such as cleaning, socializing, etc. I do offer reasonable rates, so if interested please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be sure to get back in touch with you as soon as possible. Tutoring offered both in-person or over Skype. Hi, my name is Hans and I would like to introduce myself. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
