Hi there,

My name is Daniel, and I can help you be your best!

I have a master's degree in mathematics from Western Washington University, and spent a further year studying applying mathematics at Cambridge University in England. I like math, and I like helping people understand math--and people tell me I'm pretty good at that.

I would love to be your tutor, whatever your needs: anything from grade school arithmetic or SAT math to college and graduate classes. Mathematical biology, financial mathematics, and fluid dynamics are some of my specialties, and I have taken plenty of upper-division and graduate coursework in pure mathematics and computer science. I have tutoring experience at all levels, but most of my students have been university undergrads or high school seniors.

Besides mathematics, I'm available for test prep help and tutoring in a variety of other subjects. I got a perfect score on the verbal reasoning section of the GRE and 166 out of 170 in quantitative reasoning. I am very well read and can boast a broad range of expertise.

I look forward to helping you!

MATLAB,

MATLAB

I learned MATLAB for a course in numerical analysis and mathematical programming. I got an A in the class and on the final programming project. Since then, I have used MATLAB for several coding competitions; my teams and I have implemented thermodynamics simulations, code-breaking algorithms, and financial models.
Microsoft Windows,

Microsoft Windows

I have used every version of Windows since 3.1 (except Windows 8), and I have always been a "power user": I like to find all the little hidden ways to customize a computer, to fix problems, and to get the best experience. I have also taught my mom and my grandma to use Windows, and they tell me I'm a great teacher--but I guess they're biased.

Math

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I am a mathematics student at Western Washington University. I have earned an A in Math 331 (Ordinary Differential Equations) and studied the Laplace transform and other topics covered only in Math 321 (Mathematics for Technology, the other O.D.E. class at Western). I also took and passed the math department comprehensive exam, which tests for a very thorough understanding of all the 100-, 200-, and 300-level math classes.
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

I am a math student at Western Washington University, and I took Math 309 (Discrete Mathematics) last quarter. I earned an A in that class, and I was also able to help several of my classmates with the material. They said I was a great tutor, that I made the material seem much easier. I hope I can help you with it too!
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I earned an A in both quarters of undergraduate linear algebra at WWU (MATH 204 and MATH 304), and made extensive use of the material in later mathematics courses. I also studied advanced linear algebra in a spectral theory class. The class required me to make weekly presentations to my classmates, and I learned how to talk about linear algebra in a clear and accessible way.
Logic,

Logic

I have studied formal logic in the contexts of mathematics (MATH 309 at Western) and computer science (CSCI 301), and earned A's in both of those classes. Furthermore, doing mathematics at a higher level requires a deep and thorough grasp of logical principles, so I have had plenty of practice in this area since. I have also had the opportunity to tutor students taking logic in the context of lower-division philosophy courses, and they say I'm the best help they've ever had!
MATLAB,

MATLAB

I learned MATLAB for a course in numerical analysis and mathematical programming. I got an A in the class and on the final programming project. Since then, I have used MATLAB for several coding competitions; my teams and I have implemented thermodynamics simulations, code-breaking algorithms, and financial models.

Engaging

My son says Daniel can explain the subject (Statistics) much better than his teacher could. In fact his sister is a math teacher and could not explain it in a way that he could grasp. Daniel is so patient , a big plus
