I’d like to introduce myself as a French and English language arts teacher who is excited at the chance to work with you, and to pass my experiences on to your students.
My studies in France have become a vital aspect to my teaching. After completing a semester of French study in Paris through a University of Washington travel-abroad program, I returned to France once more, two years later, following the completion of my BA. After a year studying at France Langue, a Paris-based language school, I left the country with far more than a certificate in French. I left with the images, the cultural nuances, the history, the smells and the tastes of France and French etched into my memory.
The completion of a Master of Arts in Education at Pacific Lutheran University has provided me with a variety of tools to effectively pass on these experiences to my students. As an English teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School I taught both general and pre-IB freshmen and sophomore English classes, integrating both IB standards as well as AVID teaching strategies. As a French teacher for Federal Way High School, for example, I taught my first and second-year students through the Accelerative Integrated Methodology (AIM), a program that introduces high-frequency vocabulary using gestures and integration of drama-based activities. In order to instill better oral fluency, my lessons have been coupled with role-play activities, as well as the integration of audio and video presentations.
My experiences, combined with a life-long desire to teach, have been the passion of my career as a French and English teacher. Six years since the completion of my graduate work, I am enthused at the chance to share this passion with your students, that they might not simply learn a language, but experience a world.
I am TEFL certified and an English language arts endorsed teacher.
If you need help with either English or French, please contact me. May, 2016

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
