Experienced math tutor
Hello! I have been mainly working as a math tutor for about 5 years, and I enjoy helping students gain confidence and success in math. I understand that there is a difference between one-on-one tutoring and classroom instruction, and I love the freedom to really individualize my instruction for each student that I work with when I tutor. I work to meet each student at their current ability level, and to help them build an understanding of the subject so that they can begin to approach...

I have a bachelor's degree in math from the University of Maine, and a master's degree in math from the University of Pittsburgh. At the University of Pittsburgh I worked as a teaching assistant, which included leading calculus class problem solving sessions and tutoring students in the on-campus math assistance center. My recent tutoring experience includes one-on-one tutoring in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. I have also helped students prepare for the math sections of tests such as the GRE and PRAXIS.
In the fall of 2018, I will be returning to school myself to pursue a master's degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. I plan to continue tutoring part-time while I am in school. I will be available to tutor in the Puyallup and Tacoma areas.
Patient and intuitive with various learning abilities
Pamela is the best! I despise math but she helped me better understand the subject. She also made sure I understood the various topics through visual examples and was very patient and understanding. She very quickly picked on the areas of math that I needed to improve and patiently helped me through my calculus course. Thanks, Pamela!Kian, 11 lessons with Pamela

Excellent Math Tutoring for Middle School Student
We were lucky to find Pam for tutoring my daughter this summer. Pam was very flexible with her times and was able to fit us in for two sessions per week over the summer. We have had 10 sessions with Pam. My daughter is starting a new school and we wanted Pam to help with the transition from the current math program to our new school's math program. My daughter can get anxious about math so we were looking for Pam to both teach her new skills, as well as bolster her confidence. Pam succeeded in doing both. Pam was always on time for lessons and never ended early. She and my daughter worked diligently through each lesson, working through sample problems. Pam assigned a few problems from the book for our daughter to do at home and then checked them at the next lesson. We are very satisfied with Pam and would love to continue with her this fall. She is patient, kind, skilled at math, and thorough in her explanations. When I asked my daughter to say a few things about Pam, she texted me: "Yea, she's very helpful and includes detailed organized notes to take home and look back at. Very thorough and makes sure you understand everything before she moves to the next topic." As a family, we could not be happier with Pam's help this summer and would recommend her highly to anyone else looking for support in math.Chris, 10 lessons with Pamela
