I have been a teacher for over 40 years. I began as a high school teacher of science, history and English in East Africa, then went on to teach science (particularly genetics) at UCLA and UCSD. After retirement from UCSD and moving to the Olympic Peninsula I have continued to teach, now lecturing on gardening and ecology topics. Throughout my teaching career I have been a popular teacher, often described as "tough but fair" and "funny" and "able to make the complex simple."

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken two graduate level courses in biostatistics and have published papers using advanced statistical analyses. An example is my paper in Developmental Biology about chimeras as compared to X inactivation mosaics; and the significance of differences in pigment distribution.
I have coursework at the university level in cell biology. I have a PhD in Genetics. After retiring from nearly 40 years of teaching at the University of California, San Diego, I became a Master Gardener, and have taught botanical subjects to the public and to Master Gardeners under the auspices of Washington State University Extension
I have passed the qualification exams in Elementary Math and several Advanced Math topics.
I have a PhD in Genetics from the University of Washington. I taught Genetics and other Biology subjects to undergraduates, graduate students and medical students at the University of California San Diego from 1972 to 2007.
I have passed a college-level nutrition course. In addition, I have a PhD in genetics and to obtain that degree I had to take coursework in several areas of biochemistry and metabolism. I have taught nutrition topics in the context of biology, genetics, and pathology courses during my tenure as senior lecturer in biology at UCSD
I have completed a BA, two masters degrees and a PhD, illustrating my own study skills. I have successfully tutored students at middle and high school levels, as well as college levels. I have a Diploma in Education, and have taught classes at middle and high school levels, and was a college teacher for over 35 years
