I am a German translator and have mostly been doing translation work from home. But I do feel like I want to get out more and have face-to-face contact with people, using my German language skills while teaching/tutoring people. Two days a week, I work with preschoolers and have experience teaching them (though not in German).
I do not have extensive tutoring experience. A while ago, I tutored a woman who was preparing for a conference in Germany. The sessions mostly took the form of conversations, where I corrected her German or suggested better ways of conveying the information. It was a fun experience. As a teenager, I did a lot of tutoring (mostly English since I lived in Germany and math).
I love languages and like to express myself in ways that are clear and precise. I do have a strong background in German grammar and a desire to help people connect.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a German translator who has lived in the States since 1992. I have visited Germany on a regular basis, still have family in Germany and have been translating to and from German. Thus my German is impeccable.
I have been working with preschoolers (though not in German) and I have some 1st and 2nd grade reading material that we could use to prepare your kids for their school experience or at least to get them comfortable with the new language.
