About Ryan

Ryan has received both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees in Orchestral Performance as an undergraduate at the University of Washington. He has been a member of the University of Washington Wind Ensemble, and both the University of Washington and Northstar Saxophone Quartets. In 2005 he was a finalist in the University of Washington’s Fifteenth Annual School of Music Concerto Competition and in 2006 performed as a member of the University of Washington Wind Ensemble for part of the Seattle Symphony’s Made in America Series. He has been a featured soloist as a member of the UW Saxophone Quartet with the University of Washington Wind Ensemble and participated in a performance tour of Japan in 2007 with the group as well.

In 2006 Ryan was the recipient of the prestigious Brechemin Scholarship at the University of Washington. He obtained his Masters degree at New England Conservatory, in Boston, Massachusetts, under the instruction of Kenneth Radnofsky. Here he was a member of the NEC Wind Ensemble and worked as Manager of the NEC orchestra program.

Ryan is currently teaching, performing, and composing in the Seattle area. Please contact regarding available lesson times and instruction information. Lessons are geared towards saxophone performance, but also incorporate history, theory, ear training, as well as listening to and developing a sense of saxophone music and repertoire - including predominantly classical and jazz forms, but rock, popular, and other forms as necessary.
