Hello! I have three university degrees in music. My field is voice. I have sung opera, oratorio, concert repertoire and Gilbert and Sullivan, and am continuing to build a performing and teaching career. I have always enjoyed teaching. When I was in college I was a teaching assistant in voice, and since graduation, I have taught on two college faculties, as well as privately. I am also an aspiring writer. Last year I went through a nine month program called Popular Fiction Writing at the University of Washington Extension, and have written two short stories that I am now sending to contests. I have been to numerous writers groups and had my work critiqued down to the last semicolon. My grades in English and related skills were always excellent. I feel that I can be very helpful to people as an English tutor. Hello! I have three university degrees in music. My field is voice. My very first singing lesson and I felt very comfortable with Anne. She was honest and encouraging.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I spent three years as a student at Northwest University in Kirkland WA. Northwest is a Christian university and I went there specifically to study Bible and theology. I took extensive classes in doctrine, and books of the New Testament, such as Romans and Corinthians. I also have done a lot of independent study of both the Old and New Testament.
I grew up playing folk and classical guitar. In college, I majored in voice, with the goal of becoming an opera singer. I have performed opera, oratorio, musical theater and concert repertoire. I obtained Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, and have taught voice on two different college faculties. I have moved to a new location, and am now building a teaching studio for voice, piano and guitar students. My father was a composer, and I grew up in a home that was truly musically unique. I love to teach music, and have been able to help a lot of students. I would enjoy working with you.
I began studying folk guitar at the age of eight. When I entered high school, I took up classical guitar and studied it seriously for several years. It is a beautiful instrument, and there is so much wonderful music written for it. I would greatly enjoy the chance to teach folk and classical guitar.
I constantly use Microsoft Word for 2 things: writing documents and arranging photographs on pages. I enjoy designing nice looking brochures, flyers, etc. It is a wonderful program for regular text use as well. I feel comfortable with all the basic tasks that can be done with it.
The development of music over the centuries is fascinating. To see how it was shaped by historical events, and how it also shaped history is quite intriguing. I majored in Voice, but I took as many music history courses as I could, because I found it to be so interesting. I would enjoy the opportunity to teach it.
I have studied photography for years. I have a certificate in Digital Photography from the Art Institute of Seattle, and have had my own photos published three times. I also have worked as a studio photographer in portrait studios. I hope to make the sale of my photos a significant part of my income.
The SAT Reading consists of passages from novels, newspapers and other sources. The challenge is to understand the main point that the writer is attempting to communicate, and to select the answer that is both conceptually correct and grammatically accurate. An avid reader myself, I have always scored high on such tests.
The SAT Essay is a critical part of the exam. The examiners are not concerned with the writer's opinion about an issue: they want to see if the writer can logically and coherently express their point of view. This involves making a statement, and then proving that statement with examples and excerpts from outside sources and personal experience. I will show you how to put together a winning essay that combines all of these elements.
I have studied singing for years, and have both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Voice. This involves singing both as a soloist and in groups, and both areas require sight singing. There are two components in sight singing: one is being secure with rhythm and counting, and the other is learning how to recognize intervals. As these two areas are practiced, sight singing becomes easy.
I have three degrees from the University of Washington: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music and Master of Music. My academic journey involved a lot of studying, research and writing papers. I was on the Dean's List for five years, and graduated with a GPA of 3.81. Since then I have been a teacher myself, and I have to prepare lessons for students. I recently obtained certification as an Adobe Associate in Photoshop CS4, which took a lot of preparation. I would say I have developed good study skills.
When I was in high school I wanted to be a professional actress. As an adult, my focus changed to music, but I stayed onstage, this time as an opera singer. I've taken a lot of acting classes and had roles in a significant amount of productions. I'm registered with a local talent agency as well.
I majored in voice, and hold Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Voice Performance from the University of Washington. I have sung opera, oratorio, concert repertoire, Gilbert and Sullivan, chamber music, and early music. During my last year at the University, I was a teaching assistant in Voice. After graduation, I taught singing for five years and Northwest University, then for another five years in the Continuing Education Program at Bellevue Community College. I also am continuing to build my private studio. I love to teach, and would enjoy working with you.
Many factors go into writing an effective piece, whether it be fact or fiction.
