Bio

I'm Ryan and I graduated from the University of Washington in Physics. This was a topic that was most likely last on my mind when I was going through my K-12 education because I believed that I didn't have the certain gift or the interest for any sort of technical degree. It was towards the end of my high school education that I had the privileged of taking Calculus from an extraordinary teacher that I still tribute most of my academic success to. He taught me that true passion in a subject comes from the process of deliberately gaining skills in that area until confidence and mastery over the material is achieved. My goal is to bring this same mindset to my tutoring. I strongly believe that any student that comes into a subject with the correct mindset has the ability to eventually master and before they know it, actually enjoy the subject they're studying.

I worked as a teaching assistant for Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus during my Junior year of High School. A year later, I worked as a teaching assistant and tutor at Eastern Washington University for their Multi variable Calculus class as well as for students who had any questions in any pre-requisite class (Algebra, Pre-Calc, Single Variable Calculus). During my time at the University of Washington, I worked my last year as a Teaching Assistant and Tutor for their Introductory Level Physics courses. This involved both group tutoring and one-on-one explanations that aided students understand and building of intuition for calculus based physics.

Whether the subject is extremely practical knowledge or highly abstract, my goal is to help students see through the toughest concepts in Math and Science and encourage them to see the beauty in whatever concept they're studying. Not only will I help my students achieve a specific academic goal (whether it be grades or a test score), I will just as importantly help them let them see the math and science in way that enables them to appreciate and understand the laws of nature along with the ability to recognize patterns and comprehend patterns in a way that they'll remember for long after their encounter with the material.
