I am a lifelong learner and avid reader, and constantly update my knowledge base and skills with college courses and travel to experience different cultures and locales. Helping others to be the best they can be and to strive for whole health is what I do. I have tutored and volunteered as a teachers' aide in English as a Second Language (ESL) programs with World Relief DuPage in Illinois, Literacy Councils in Seattle and Kitsap County, and the Federal Way Multi-Service Center in Washington state. I am a part-time church pianist and have volunteered with the Red Cross at a local military hospital in the nutrition clinic.
I specialize in ESL. I have high standards for myself and my students. I expect my students to ask questions, to complete homework after each lesson to ensure their complete understanding, and I will conduct periodic assessments to gauge progress. I am a reflective educator and strive to improve through lessons learned from working with my students and discussions with colleagues.
I expect notification of cancellation at least 6 hours prior to the lesson and will notify my students at least 24 hours in advance if I must cancel a lesson. Makeup lessons will be arranged immediately.
I am flexible as to meeting locations and will work with each student to find a place that is mutually acceptable for quiet and focused learning.
I look forward to working with you in learning in ways that are challenging and fun!

Group rates would be lower depending on the number of students attending each lesson.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied nutrition over the years as a weight-loss/diet consumer. I am studying to become an nutritionist and exercise physiologist by taking science courses through a preparatory online college program. I believe that diet and exercise are the cornerstones of a healthy life. As a volunteer in the Nutrition Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center, I have learned much about the subject and am able to teach based on my experiences and continuing education.
I earned A's in junior high school math and finished Math Analysis in high school, then finished in college with Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and Accounting! I think math is fun!
