Don't be intimidated by asking for help, writing is collaborative process! I do not know of any writer, beginner or best-selling author, that does not get help with their writing! You are not alone, and I have been right where you are and understand the stress that you are under.
I specialize in English composition, scientific research writing, college scholarship and entrance essays, and all aspects of creative writing.
I have always been writing, but I have about 11 years of professional writing experience. I started out writing in the Natural Resources industry while in college, and I realized that I had found my niche. I was fortunate to get a job working for the Olympia Forestry Research Station under the United States Forest Service, which is one of the most prestigious research stations in the country gathering data and eventually worked my way up to science writing.
I currently work as an online tutor, for National University, giving me the opportunity to work with beginning writers as well as graduate students! I love the variety!
I also work as writing tutor in the Writing Center at SPSCC in Olympia, Washington and have been a part of their staff for about 3.5 years. Working as a writing tutor has given me opportunities to work with a diverse group of students and subjects ranging from most academic classes requiring research/writing papers, ESL, ABE, science, college application processes and of course the occasional beloved creative writing project.
My tutoring philosophy is to support students learning by helping them gather the tools and skills to become better writers. I will not fix your paper for you, instead, I will help you become the writer you want to be! The session is in your hands. We will discuss your goals for the session and work on the top three concerns you have. Smaller order concerns such as grammar and sentence structure concerns will come once we feel that the major goals of the paper have been met.
You will find me responsive, eager, contagiously excited about what I do and deeply committed to my students and their writing.
I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy, and make-up sessions are available. Don't be intimidated by asking for help, writing is collaborative process! I do not know of any writer, beginner or best-selling author, that does not get help with their writing! You are not alone, and I have been right where you are and understand the stress that you are under.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Besides completing the public speaking requirements in college, I have had to speak in front of large groups many times over the years throughout my working career. Currently, I tutor students here at my own Writing Center with their public speaking classes. I help them with annunciation, voice projection and timing.
I have tutored many students over the years with study skills and tips. I believe this is a learned skill and does not come naturally to everyone! I struggled with this growing up, and because of that have acquired many helpful tips to successfully pass tests/quizzes and retain the necessary information.
I currently work in a college writing center, and many of my sessions are working with students preparing for exams, and working on the needed study skills to become as successful student. Feedback from my students has always been positive, especially on how to retain information for exams.
