Hello! I'm a junior at the University of Washington studying mathematics. I have always loved math, and I enjoy helping others understand different concepts. While math can be challenging at times, I believe the right teacher can make the learning experience more enjoyable. In school I helped many of my friends and classmates with various coursework, and I want to be able to help more people learn and be successful through Wyzant.
I have taken eight math courses at the University of Washington so far, including multivariable calculus and linear analysis. As of winter quarter 2019, I have been on the Dean's List every quarter for maintaining a GPA above 3.5. Additionally, I scored 5's on the AP Calculus I and AP Calculus II test in high school. I also received recognition in mathematics from the American Association of University Women in 2016.
In middle and high school I took 5 years of Spanish, up to AP Spanish. After taking these classes, I realized the importance of learning a language, and how learning the language of other countries can deepen the understanding of different cultures. Knowing Spanish is a useful tool, and I want to be able to help others understand the language.
Since fourth grade, I have loved playing the violin. I have now been playing for ten years, and during this time I have always been a member of my school orchestras. During my senior year, I was the concert mistress of my high school chamber orchestra. I am currently third chair in the UW Campus Philharmonia orchestra. The violin has always been an important part of my life, and I met many people through orchestra and learned the importance of team work when playing in a large ensemble. Music also provides a break from other academic studies, and I want to help others experience the joy of playing an instrument.
In my time helping others learn their coursework, I have found that some guidance along with practice on the student’s part improves their ability to understand and succeed with the subject they are learning. In whichever subject you want assistance, I hope I can help you be successful!
