I graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science in 2014 and from Ohio University with a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Practice in August 2017. I currently work full-time as a Physician Assistant in Cardiology.

I have a great depth of experience teaching General Chemistry at both the college and high school levels, and have been tutoring since my sophomore year of undergrad at The Ohio State University. I was also a Chemistry lab TA at OSU for two years, instructing a lab of 25 students . Over a 4+ year span, I have tutored over 300+ AP, Honors, and College level chemistry students.

My tutoring methods are flexible, as I realize every student has different needs and goals. The method I have found to be the most successful begins with a general overview of the material that the student is currently struggling with, then clarifying any questions left unanswered in the overview, followed by relevant questions from the textbook, or questions that I construct that I have seen most commonly on exams. Some of my past students have preferred only question/quiz/exam review, lab report review, and/or explaining concepts. Overall, i cater my tutoring methods to the student's needs, and modify as the student progresses.

Awesome Chemistry tutor!

Shane was really helpful! I worked with Shane for a couple weeks during my College Chemistry class. He was able to pick up right where I was with the material and help explain it in a way that was both understandable and applicable to exactly what I was learning. It's very clear that Shane has spent a lot of time not just with the subject of Chemistry, but with the college coursework of Chemistry. I've worked with a couple other tutors and their explanations didn't feel relevant to what I actually needed to learn. Shane seemed to have a great handle on what a Chemistry Professor is likely expecting from students while also being able to describe real world applications. He could break down otherwise seemingly confusing material, and made it easy to learn. He was also really great with communicating availability and getting back about scheduling sessions in a really timely manner. Thanks Shane!

he is very thorough and knowledgeable.

Shane is very thorough, he goes through all the details to make sure you get the basic concepts. We will definitely make it a regular class and review all concepts we learn at school.

Great Tutor for General Chemistry

I was struggling with OSU's General Chemistry as many do, and Shane really helped not only to raise my grade, but also understand the subject. He went through every subject I struggled with and provided very clear explanations to help me understand them better. He also provided me with practice problems to work on.

Highly Recommended

Shane tutored me in Chem 1220 at OSU. We meet almost every week for about an hour and a half. He was always very accommodating to my schedule. During our tutoring session, we would cover the chapter covered in class and problems from the text book. When it came to midterms and the final, we would go over the practice exams. He was always very prepared for our sessions and knowledgeable about chemistry. He also was able to make the difficult topics easier for me to understand. If it wasn't for him, I don't think I would have passed the class!
