About Natalie

I most recently completed an Masters of Science in Education in Reading and Literacy preK-12, and a Special Education Learning Disabilities endorsement. I have a CELTA and state certification in teaching ELL/ESL. I have certification in K-12 Music-Orchestra, and teach violin, flute and piano. I work in a school district with a variety of students, K-12. Much of my work involves small groups, and tutoring in literacy skills, including writing. I have about 3 years of experience in teaching adult ELL/ESL, including curriculum design and implementation, as well as teaching and tutoring ELL/ESL to students in grades K-12. I enjoy teaching ELL to students of all ages. I also recently purchased College Board SAT teacher materials, so I am well-prepared to provide a positive and successful tutoring experience to students in SAT Reading and Writing.

I have worked in tutoring and private teaching for about 15 years, with great success both in Washington and in Minnesota. I have a positive and encouraging approach when working with students of all ages. I am well trained in the most recent teaching methods and strategies for teaching Reading, Writing, elementary level mathematics and ESL/ELL, as well as in working with students who have learning disabilities. Each student receives individualized instruction utilizing the most recent, research-based and proven strategies for learning, incorporated from my recent university training.

I enjoy teaching and learning. I enjoy getting to know students best learning methods and interests to incorporate into their learning experiences and goals. I am able to work with parents concerns for their student, and provide supplemental materials along with the student's curriculum goals.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
