It's crunch time now that the end of the school year is approaching. What a perfect time to brush up on concepts from the beginning of the year!
I have been teaching math for 6 years at the college level, and tutoring for 8 years from 4th grade material and up. I specialize in Introductory Statistics and Algebra, but have taught and tutored financial math courses, calculus courses, and Math In Society. Before moving to Kelso, I tutored at a Learning Center in Snohomish, as well as through Wyzant in Snohomish County. I love teaching and inspiring students to become comfortable and knowledgeable in mathematics.
I am free Tuesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings, and have flexibility with morning schedules and weekends if there is interest. It's crunch time now that the end of the school year is approaching. What a perfect time to brush up on concepts from the beginning of the year!

We have had Allie come to tutor our two children for the past year. She was amazing, beyond always coming on time being prepared. Allie would make herself available other times during the week if we were stuck on a homework problem. She was really good about breaking down the problem and helping the kids work thru it. She would leave them with home work and direction to keep them on track for the week. Allie was a great help, tutor and more for me with my two children.
I was really struggling in math 107 at WWU. I was acing all my homework assignments, putting in over 2 hours into my math class every night yet still doing horrible on the tests after thinking I did really well and understood the material. Allie was brought on right before my third test and she helped me not only achieve the score I wanted on that test but also helped me ace the final. After every session with her, everything made so much more sense and she was awesome at explaining things to me and helping me really grasp the concepts. I will be taking math 112 come winter quarter and I hope Allie is still around to work with me because she is such an awesome tutor! I recommend her to anyone who is struggling in math even a little bit.
My son was tutored by Allie for 5th Grade Math. She was a wonderful tutor and we would have loved to have had her continue throughout the school year but sadly she is off to University in Bellingham WA. My 11 year son said he highly recommends her as a tutor and we both agree she not only is a great Math tutor but has a wonderful relaxed way of tutoring. If you ever come back let us know Allie:~)
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been teaching introductory statistics at a community college for over two years now, and have been tutoring the subject for over a year and a half. I have taken both introductory statistic courses as well as calculus-based statistics courses. My BS and MS in mathematics as well as my knowledge of the sciences and health fields gives me ample real-world examples for traditional statistics courses.
For the last 6 years, I have worked as a lifeguard at a local pool where I have been teaching children from ages 1-16, as well as adults, how to swim. I am lifeguard certified by the Red Cross, as well as CPR, AED, and First Aid certified. I love being in the water, and seeing the progress that students make as they learn new things. Knowing how to swim is a huge confidence boost for people of all ages, as swimming is a common activity in this region.
I am willing to teach at the pools in Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and McCollum Park, or any other pool where membership is not required. (Unless you are a member and you can bring a guest.) The hourly rate doesn't include cost into the pool for the student, that will need to be paid upon arrival to the pool.
