I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Brigham Young University and have more than 35 years of practical experience in working with Math on a daily basis.

I would love to help any student understand, enjoy, and develop proficiency in math. Contact me to learn more or to set up tutoring times.

The principles of math have inherently many ways of being viewed, performed, and understood. My experience working with youth and my background with mathematics, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways a particular individual understands these principles and I will be able to apply that to help your son/daughter both learn and enjoy the subject. I am an experienced teacher and mentor being the father of 7 children, having served as a Boy Scout leader for over 20 years, and having been a church youth teacher and leader of age 6 to 18 year olds for many years.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have a clear understanding of basic algebra, as well as the supporting math leading to it and the math it builds toward. A bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, a minor in mathematics, and the practicality of 35 years of engineering experience have prepared me. There are many ways of viewing, performing, and understanding basic algebra and my background and experience enable me to see how individuals best understand, learn, and perform algebraic work.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a minor in mathematics, and 35 years of engineering experience have provided me with a clear understanding of advanced algebra. My experience working with youth, as well as the practicality of experience, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways an individual understands the techniques of advanced algebra. I will be able to apply those ways to help your son/daughter both learn and enjoy the subject.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I was an Associate Technical Fellow at the Boeing Company with an Electronics Packaging focus which included expertise in chemical properties of metals, semiconductors, and gases. It also included expertise in understanding chemical reactions, such as those occurring in corrosion, thermodynamics, and heat transfer. Additionally, I took undergraduate honors chemistry classes at the University of Washington.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have a great love for geometry and the associated logical thinking that is its basis; however, I also understand that its principles have many ways of being viewed, performed, and understood. My experience in math and a practicality that has come from experience, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways a particular individual will be able to understand geometry and I will be able to apply that to help your son/daughter both learn and enjoy it.
Physics,

Physics

I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics with extensive work in Calculus (the math behind Physics). My university studies included extensive Physics work and work in related subjects (in which I did well). I have 35 plus years of engineering experience involving the use of math and science on a daily basis. I have lots of experience teaching and mentoring, both personally (I'm the father of 7 children, have served as a Boy Scout leader for over 20 years, and have served as a church youth teacher and leader of age 6 to 18 year olds for many years) and professionally (I have mentored young engineers and been a technical engineering leader for many years).
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I enjoy working with young people, helping them succeed in math, and building their confidence in areas they may be struggling in. My experience and background have prepared me to be able to see the best methodologies to help a particular individual to both learn and enjoy math. I have many years experience in teaching and mentoring of both youth (age 6 to 18) as well as adults. My schooling, my engineering career and my associated daily practical use of math has prepared me to tutor pre-algebra.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

My background in engineering and my daily practical use of math has prepared me to be able to tutor pre-calculus. I have a clear understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry (the math leading toward calculus), calculus itself, as well as the practical applications of these in the real world. I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics and I worked as an engineer for over 35 years including many years of mentoring.

Great Test review

Bill reviewed my previous tests with me and helped to bring me up to date on what I need to know. He was knowledgeable and was able to show me different ways to solve the problem.

Experience Tutoring Students Showed

Great first lesson! Looking forward to seeing my son do well in these difficult subjects this year. William communicated well throughout the initial process and quickly established a positive rapport with my son.

I Definitely recommend

William has a talent for teaching. He is able to simplify complicated processes, which really helps to make what can be confusing clear. William has a demeanor that makes you comfortable and opens your mind for learning new stuff.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Explained limits so I understood them much more clearly than I had previously and provided detailed breakdown of homework I had given. Great first lesson, knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Effective teaching skills with positive results!

William was able to instruct our daughter for her Algebra 2 Regents. She told us after only her first lesson that he put her at ease and explained the subject matter in a way that simplified it for her. In her own words she's "not too interested in math", so this was no easy task. She was able to get a 75 after 3 weeks of his help. We are very grateful and will recommend him highly to everyone we know!

Great Algebra 2 tutor

Mr. William has been tutoring me virtually for Algebra 2 and although I've never had tutoring in this matter it's rather easy. We review what I don't understand and he gives me similar exercises to practice until I understand it and move one to the next challenging equation. I am happy so far. Thank you, Sabrina

Great first lesson!

Bill is a popular tutor but had a cancellation and was able to come help our son on short notice. He was able to explain some tricky chemistry concepts and helped our son get through his homework more quickly. We look forward to meeting with Bill again when his schedule allows.

Roberta, 2 lessons with William

Great at teaching difficult subjects!

Bill tutored my son in geometry. It has helped him tremendously. He did very well on the last test and he has more confidence. Bill worked hard to make sure he understood the material before he left. Even if that meant going a few minutes over his hour.

Jared, 15 lessons with William

Professional and knowledgeable

William was able to clarify many pre calculus topics, was easy to talk to, and the library he meets with students at has nice study rooms so it is easier to concentrate.

Really great Work

Coming into this lesson, I had no clue in regards to how I would take my upcoming test, so I brought a teacher-provided study guide, and we went over it. We went through the items one by one, and towards the end of our session, I couldn't help laughing at myself because of how easy the items really were. It really helped a lot. Since our first session, my grade in geometry has seen steady improvement.
