Brigham Young University (Mech Engineering)
I am a retired engineer who last worked as an Associate Technical Fellow and Lead Technical Engineer at the Boeing Company. I also am the father of 7 children. Additionally, I have many years experience working with, teaching, and counseling youth in a variety of age groups ranging from age 6 to 18. I am currently serving as a volunteer Cub Scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America. I love working with kids and enjoy helping them both learn and love to learn.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Brigham Young University and have more than 35 years of practical experience in working with Math on a daily basis.
I would love to help any student understand, enjoy, and develop proficiency in math. Contact me to learn more or to set up tutoring times. William W is an amazing tutor. He has been tutoring my daughter for a little over 2 months now and she has made great progress in such a short time. He is patient, and as my daughter said, "there is not one second where you dont stop learning."
My daughter felt that her session with William was very helpful. He was very patient and explained things clearly and slowly in a manner in which she could understand. We have already scheduled another session with William.
Bill has been tutoring my son in High School Geometry for about 2 months now and my only regret is I didn't find him sooner! He is very patient and listens to my son which allows him to teach him so he can understand better. He has gone from flunking his tests to getting his first A! Bill has boosted his confidence and doesn't make him feel rushed or stupid. We are SO grateful!
Thank you Bill. The first comment our daughter made after you left was,"why can't my teacher teach like this." Needless to say , we will continue onward. Thank you
Bill was able to explain high school physics in such a way that the science homework was no longer just formulas and abstract math. It now has meaning, and as a result, there is greater understanding of the concept. Thanks Bill!
My son had a good first lesson and we are looking forward to more. I cannot give a statement on how progress is going since this was the first time together.
I have had multiple math tutors in the past and William is by far the best. He is incredibly understanding and doesn't let me get ahead of myself even if something doesn't make sense initially. He took my basis in algebra and built on it. I highly recommend William for anyone who needs to improve in math.
William has been amazing with my son and has brought his confidence level way up in the few short weeks he has worked with him. I highly recommend him if your child is struggling in math!
William helped my son understand how to solve for the unknown variable. William explained the concept, helped with a few then saw that my son could complete many problems on his own. My sons class grade has gone up by a grade level with only a few sessions.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a clear understanding of basic algebra, as well as the supporting math leading to it and the math it builds toward. A bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, a minor in mathematics, and the practicality of 35 years of engineering experience have prepared me.
There are many ways of viewing, performing, and understanding basic algebra and my background and experience enable me to see how individuals best understand, learn, and perform algebraic work.
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a minor in mathematics, and 35 years of engineering experience have provided me with a clear understanding of advanced algebra.
My experience working with youth, as well as the practicality of experience, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways an individual understands the techniques of advanced algebra. I will be able to apply those ways to help your son/daughter both learn and enjoy the subject.
The principles of math have inherently many ways of being viewed, performed, and understood. My experience working with youth and my background with mathematics, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways a particular individual understands these principles and I will be able to apply that to help your son/daughter both learn and enjoy the subject.
I am an experienced teacher and mentor being the father of 7 children, having served as a Boy Scout leader for over 20 years, and having been a church youth teacher and leader of age 6 to 18 year olds for many years.
I have a great love for geometry and the associated logical thinking that is its basis; however, I also understand that its principles have many ways of being viewed, performed, and understood. My experience in math and a practicality that has come from experience, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways a particular individual will be able to understand geometry and I will be able to apply that to help your son/daughter both learn and enjoy it.
I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics with extensive work in Calculus (the math behind Physics). My university studies included extensive Physics work and work in related subjects (in which I did well). I have 35 plus years of engineering experience involving the use of math and science on a daily basis.
I have lots of experience teaching and mentoring, both personally (I'm the father of 7 children, have served as a Boy Scout leader for over 20 years, and have served as a church youth teacher and leader of age 6 to 18 year olds for many years) and professionally (I have mentored young engineers and been a technical engineering leader for many years).
I enjoy working with young people, helping them succeed in math, and building their confidence in areas they may be struggling in. My experience and background have prepared me to be able to see the best methodologies to help a particular individual to both learn and enjoy math.
I have many years experience in teaching and mentoring of both youth (age 6 to 18) as well as adults. My schooling, my engineering career and my associated daily practical use of math has prepared me to tutor pre-algebra.
My background in engineering and my daily practical use of math has prepared me to be able to tutor pre-calculus. I have a clear understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry (the math leading toward calculus), calculus itself, as well as the practical applications of these in the real world.
I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics and I worked as an engineer for over 35 years including many years of mentoring.
35 plus years of engineering experience with almost daily applications of trigonometry in countless forms have prepared me to be able to tutor trig.
I will be able to use my experience teaching youth and the practicality I’ve gained through experience to be able to see the best ways your daughter/son will be able to understand the principles and techniques of trigonometry and I will apply those ways to help her/him both learn and enjoy it.
