I love the satisfaction involved in providing students with both new found confidence and skills. It's always my goal to assist the student to get an A in his or her courses, while providing the student with the necessary foundation to stand out among his or her peers. I have experience teaching at a college (ivy-league) preparatory academy (English and French) and at the university level (English composition and literature). I also have five years of experience in one-on-one tutoring for all things related to English. I have helped ESL students gain mastery of the English language and writing. I have helped native speakers hone their writing and composition skills to the point where they are completely comfortable writing essays, with no anxiety involved. I have helped master's level students complete their masters theses and doctoral students complete their dissertations. I assist people in all fields with writing and I have worked on dissertations in scientific topics and also in humanities.
I am also a published author, freelance editor, and proofreader. I have Master's degrees in English and Clinical Psychology. I find that there is a lot of fear surrounding the writing process when people do not consider themselves natural writers. I have developed a very easy to follow writing and composition formula that may serve as the foundation for both small essays and for projects as large as dissertations. The formula that I use helps take the anxiety out of writing.
At 12 years old my parents started bringing me on travels around the world. After that, we hosted international student center home from all continents. I have spent time in 22 countries and have lived in both England and France for extended periods of time. I love interacting with people from all cultural and language backgrounds because it's a very gratifying and enriching experience. I started working as an ESL and writing tutor at 19 years old in a university setting. I was the youngest tutor on staff. After I received my Masters degree at 23, I was the youngest faculty member in the English department. I love writing and love teaching the joys of writing. I have been a published author for many years and love to coach people on all aspects of writing, whether they are working on an essay, their book, a white paper, or a dissertation. It doesn't matter if you are a student, ESL student, or author, I love assisting you. I also use custom handouts that I have created to make the writing process and mastery of grammar much easier.
I encourage you to contact me with questions or advice and to see if working together would be a good fit for you and would help you meet your personal goals.
