Houston community college HCC
I grew up in the Puget Sound area, where I was exposed to education from a young age; my dad being founder of the Northwest College of Art and Design in Poulsbo, Washington.
Since 2010, I've participated in research and development for a Houston based education company specializing in K-12 +College level Reading and Vocabulary building software.
In my spare time I love to tutor and my passion is helping students of all ages expand their reading and communication skills and develop effective studying skills.
My areas of specialization include:
• Vocabulary building
• Reading comprehension
• Communication skills
• SAT and ACT test prep
• Reading skills development for people with Dyslexia
My methodology involves assisting students to get in touch with their natural learning ability. Through my experiences, I've found that everyone can become successful and confident in themselves once they better understand how their own learning process works. My goal is to empower students to become self reliant and take their learning into their own hands.
I have also effectively assisted students with ADHD and Dyslexia to improve their focus, self esteem, and communication skills.
I look forward to helping you expand your reading and communication skills and reaching your highest potential and ability! I grew up in the Puget Sound area, where I was exposed to education from a young age; my dad being founder of the Northwest College of Art and Design in Poulsbo, Washington.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Through my involvement in the development of vocabulary and reading software since 2009 in between Houston, TX, and Seattle, WA, I've had the opportunity to work with many students both native English speaking, as well as ESL students using a combination of computer and non-computer based methods to assist them to quickly and effectively build their vocabulary fundamentals and subject comprehension skills.
In my work with vocabulary and reading software development, I've had the opportunity to help students as young as 6 years old to learn to read. I've assisted them with the integration of essential phonemes using the phonics approach as well as using the whole language approach to help integrate sight words.
I use a combination of software tools and written methods in reading instruction.
Since 2010 I've assisted new sales people to develop public speaking skills in my capacity as a developer, manager and trainer at the education company I work for. Typically I first work with the person to get to know any fears, resistances, and past experiences they have in relation to public speaking, and then assist them to develop practical methods to overcome fears and expand their expressive abilities. I have experience assisting people both with general public speaking skills as well as more specialized areas like presentations and job interviews.
