My name is Chris and I have been practicing photography and Photoshop for 10 years. But no matter what your level of experience, there is always more to learn! I just recently started scuba diving and that opened up a whole new world of photographic challenges! I am very excited to share my enthusiasm for photography and expertise with people willing to learn.
The first job I had involving photography was a graphic design job. I stitched panoramas by hand and wrote automation scripts for Photoshop. This is back when I was 19 and I fell in love with the process. Ever since then I could not learn enough about Adobe Photoshop or Photography.
My method of teaching is hands on. Developing the skills and knowledge in tandem is the best way to learn. So as we go though a lesson I will tell you what to do, but also why we are doing it and how the software or hardware achieves that result. A through understanding of how the software and hardware works creates a foundation on which to learn new skills, and even come up with your own techniques!
I would ask that students bring their own digital pictures to work on because it increases the interest for the student in their work. But if you do not have any of your own, we can take one with my equipment or you can use one of mine.
For my photography and Photoshop students, I look forward to setting up special sessions involving Water, Flame, smoke, long exposure, photography for 3d glasses (3d anaglyph), custom panoramas, focus stacking, multiplicity (one person a bunch of times in one photo), levitation Portraits, invisible people and other techniques.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I learned Photoshop professionally when I was 19. Created Automation scripts and programmed my own panoramic stitching software and intelligent automated photo editing software from scratch in visual basic and C using calls to the Photoshop software. I learned the ins and outs of the program and grew to love it! I have been using Photoshop creatively ever since!
I have been using computers ever since my programmer uncle showed me to use DOS SHELL to free up memory on my family computer to play games when I was 7. I have been on top of computing technology ever since. I have built many computers and have programmed as a job. I love to work with computers just as much as people!
I am a native Windows user. I have used Windows from 3.1 to 8.1 and have left no stone unturned. From manual registry edits to hack games to editing startup programs to god-awful trails on your mouse pointer. I can customize anything about the Windows experience. I even used to use WHS to make repetitive tasks easy.
I have been practicing photography for over a decade. I own a nikon d7000 with multiple lenses and a Intova underwater camera. I put them to good use doing multi-day backpacking trips for landscape and near-macro photography. The Intova I take out while scuba diving to get wildlife shots, which is tough with a 5mm lens, you have to get about 6 inches from your subject to seem close! I have had jobs doing nothing but cleaning up and stitching photos in photoshop. I have shot and stitched hundreds of panos. I love learning new photography techniques. I have done many including levitation, mad men style portraits, 3d anaglyphs, manual HDR, focus stacking, long exposure for water and stars, panoramas and much more! My photography hangs on the walls of lots of homes (not just family :-) ). I wish I could just show you my work. Its hard to describe!
My tutoring method is simple. Learn by doing. I always tell them why we are going to do a step and why we did not do it differently. An understanding of why decisions are made as we are making them is the most intuitive way to learn. It builds a working knowledge as a foundation for future learning.
I have near infinite patience and have a lot of experience training people on the job. When I was at my graphic design job I was responsible for training the new hires in our Photoshop techniques (sometimes starting with what Photoshop was!). I loved the experience, it was the funnest part of my job.
