I am an electrical engineering graduate from UCLA. I have extensive experience tutoring students ages 14-21. I began tutoring students in high school to encourage healthy habits and improve AP test scores among my peers. Watching students steadily improve during this period of high school tutoring led me to continue tutoring during my university years. I continued teaching lower division courses for math, physics, chemistry, and electrical engineering at UCLA.

Throughout my college career, I also participated in UCLA's engineering outreach program to tutor students in surrounding high schools on STEM-related subjects.

My tutoring philosophy is to ensure a student can understand "why" things are. Understanding is not synonymous with brute memorization of formulas and concepts. I believe that all of my students should be able to explain "why" a certain approach or conclusion to solve a problem was made. I lecture, teach, and tutor with this methodology in mind.

Homeschool

Calculus,

Calculus

I received the following scores for testing related to Calculus: AP Calculus AB(5), AP Calculus BC(5). I am confident in my calculus, which has only improved as I have continued to use it throughout my university studies as an electrical engineering major. I took both Calculus courses in high school and have experience with the subject matter on an intimate level. I also am comfortable with multivariable calculus and differential equations, which will be the next level of calculus your child will take(presumably after linear algebra).
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I have tutored both Chemistry Honors and AP Chemistry. I scored a 5 on the AP Chemistry test and a 800 on the SAT II Chemistry Subject Test.
Physics,

Physics

I have taken multiple university physics courses for my engineering curriculum and I am experienced with topics including kinematics; dynamics; momentum; energy and work; rotational motion; universal gravitational motion; oscillations and periodic motion, geometric and physical optics; electrostatics; electromagnetism; electrical circuits, photo electric effect, nuclear physics, etc. I have specific study techniques to improve grades for physics courses at the high school level as well. Physics is a subject most high school instructors struggle to teach effectively, which can affect AP scores and understanding of fundamentals required for future physics courses. I can bridge gaps in understanding that a student has and improve their scores on tests. I took the AP Physics tests in 2011 and scored a 5, 4, and 4 for Physics B, C: Mechanics, and C: E&M respectively. I also achieved an 800 on the SAT II Physics subject test as well.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I teach SAT Math and AP Physics 1, which both require a solid grasp on Precalculus. I have taken the course before in high school and continue to use the skills I learned in the class for everyday application on top of my tutoring. I am confident I can help you excel at learning vectors, polar coordinates, limits, matrices, complex numbers, conic sections, logarithms, and basic function analysis.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I scored a 2300 on the SAT I(800 Math, 780 Verbal, 720 Writing). I also scored the full 800 on the SAT II Subject Test for Mathematics II. I have strong fundamentals in the test criteria for math and I was self-taught using test prep books and know specific focus points and study techniques to improve SAT math scores.

I am an electrical engineering undergraduate student in his final year at UCLA. I have taken courses for Analog Circuit Design, Systems and Feedback Control, and DSP. I have solid experience tutoring first and second year engineering students in lower division electrical engineering courses including basic circuit theory, logic design for digital systems, and introductory solid state devices(SS Physics, BJT, Diode). I also have experience working in the professional setting where I interned for as a network engineer for Gemtek, creating code to monitor UDP and TDP loss during wireless data transfer as well as designing support for router chipsets. I have also worked for the High Speed Electronics Lab at UCLA, where I worked under Professor Frank Chang and my P.I. Yan Zhao on FPGA-USART communication and a signal sweeper using an 8-bit digital signal sweeper to scan a 90 degree arc and generate multiple waveforms at specific angle intervals to determine phase delay and pinpoint a signal's location. I am experienced with NI LabView, Xilinx ISE, MATLAB, C++, Visual Basic, TSUPREM-4, and MEDICI.

Extremely Clear and Precise Tutor

Jeffrey is extremely clear and transparent with his teaching, able to place a strong, fundamental base for students to build off. He is also able to quickly present information without it coming off as to fast for the student to digest.

Approachable and understandable tutor

Jeffrey is a good tutor that goes step-by-step with his tutees making sure that they have a fundamental understanding of the academic concepts and how to apply them, being able to explain difficult concepts in understandable ways. He is very approachable and easy to talk to, making him a very effective tutor.

Great Physics-Kirchoff's law tutor

Jeffrey was great--very clear explanations, and willing to ask me questions to make sure I got the concepts. He started from the very beginning, and didn't skip any steps, even though it was clear he had done these calculations multiple times before. He's very patient, as well. Would definitely use his services again!

Great Support

I’m glad that I was able to find Jeffery. My son was having hard time with Chemistry but after meeting Jeffrey he gained more confidence. Thank you, Jeffrey!!!

Great AP Calc and AP Chem Tutor!

Jeffrey arrived on time, and we reviewed AP Chem right away (AP Calc later). He is very knowledgeable in both subjects, very good at conveying the concepts, explaining theories, and very patient. This is my first lesson with Jeffrey, and already I learned stuff that I missed in my regular classes. He is highly recommended for students struggling in Chem and Calc!

Great teacher, would definitely recommend

Jeffrey is very good at explaining math concepts and it is clear that he knows what he is talking about. Anyone looking for SAT math tutoring should look no further!

Nicholas, 1 lesson with Jeffrey

Dilligent and effective

Although young for a tutor, Jeffrey has a very mature demeanor and work ethics. He is always well prepared for his lessons and works very hard with the student. He helps identify student's weak area, focuses on them, and recommends additional materials that will help students in those areas. I am every happy to have chosen him for my nephew.
