About Tim

As a mechanical engineer, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of subjects: math, material science, Computer Aided Drafting, Finite Element Analysis, Structural Analysis, Aircraft and flight dynamics, and data analysis.

As a lab instructor, college tutor, and high school math/science teacher, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of students and subjects. I greatly enjoy working with students in a challenging area, and seeing a cloudy subject become clear.

I greatly enjoy math, science, and computer related fields of study. I look forward to working with anyone interested in these areas, who could use some help from someone who's had to work hard to learn too.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have a degree in mechanical engineering with a math minor.

AutoCAD

I thoroughly enjoy drafting! I like seeing a clean, clear drawing take shape from rough ideas and sketches, and being able to present a finished product that has all the information needed to create a product, and look good.

I have used Autocad from Release 9 up through Autocad 2010. I have used Autocad in a professional capacity for many years as a draftsman, as well as for my own projects.

I have also done a great deal of solid modeling using Autodesk Inventor and Pro Engineer.

Elementary (K-6th)

As a substitute teacher at Palisades Christian Academy, I have had the chance to work with 4th through 10th grade students. I enjoy seeing their minds expand as they acquire the skills needed to make a resounding success of their time in school.

MATLAB

I have used MATLAB for many years for classes in mechanical engineering. I continue to use it for data analysis and plotting purposes, and find it quite useful.

Mechanical Engineering

I earned my B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. I have experience in all classes required to complete this program.

Volleyball

Having played volleyball for 25 years, I can say I really love this game. I have played both indoor and outdoor; I have played in leagues; and I have played very competitive (BB level) matches.

I have been a girls volleyball coach for two years, and feel comfortable teaching both the fundamentals as well as more advanced skills of the game to anyone wanting to learn.

Tim was so encouraging and wonderful! — I really appreciate that Tim took the time to brush up on logarithms and half life formulas before he met with me. He was very encouraging and just what I needed to help me with these concepts. His teaching style was just perfect for me. ...
