Western Washington University (Anthropology)
I achieved my BA in anthropology from Western Washington University alongside a minor in Women's Studies.
In addition to my sociocultural background, I studied Spanish for two years, including several weeks spent in Peru. During my my time in college I tutored Spanish and helped out in the student writing center, as well as volunteered with several student groups on campus (Japanese Club, Spanish Club, International Students Center, Women's Center, Anthropology Club, & Veteran's Affairs).
My current goals include returning to school for my MA and and eventual Ph. D in cultural anthropology with a focus on war and gender. The plan itself revolves around becoming a college professor and inspiring students as I myself was inspired.
I studied the four-field approach (bio-anthropology, archaeology, linguistics, cultural) first at Clark College here in Vancouver and then in Bellingham, at Western Washington University.
During my time at the university I achieved the President's List of 2012 for academic excellence, attending additional seminars and field trips both in Whatcom County and across the border in British Colombia, as well as conducting multiple ethnographic research projects.
Anthropology emphasizes a strong writing component, courses often require papers 25+ pages in length, that are able to both intrigue and inform the reader. My academic resume includes various english and writing courses at the 200, 300, and 400 level.
I would love to help students be inspired by academia and to understand the concepts/courses that they are involved in. I achieved my BA in anthropology from Western Washington University alongside a minor in Women's Studies.
