University of West Florida (Communication and PR)
University of West Florida (Master's)
I specialize in writing and in any subjects within the communication field. These include public relations, journalism, public speaking, and organizational (business management) communication. If you need help with academic paper writing, I can teach you how to get excellent grades on your papers by writing coherently and in an interesting manner. You don't need to fear APA or MLA. I'll show you how to document and cite all your sources, and just as importantly, how to choose those sources. I can also tutor high school or college English composition.
If you need help with creative writing, journalistic writing, technical, or persuasive writing of any kind, I'll show you what you need to know. However, I won't write a paper for you - I guide and teach. If you're willing and capable, you'll learn how to get excellent grades on all your papers. If you're a researcher in another field, I can help you organize your research into a paper for an academic journal. As for credentials, I have two published papers in my field plus a Master's capstone. In addition, I taught undergraduate public speaking and did academic advising in graduate school. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I can teach virtually all types of English language writing, as well as lower-level grammar rules and sentence structure. I have worked in news, advertising and public relations writing and have published academic journal articles.
I have a Master's in Strategic Communication and Leadership, and public speaking was an important part of my graduate studies. During graduate school, I taught an undergraduate public speaking course at the University of West Florida, and I was a judge at the Forensics tournament that UWF hosted for regional colleges and universities in 2011. My approach would be to focus on the kind of presentation, the particular audience and setting, organization of speaking points, research, credibility, and persuasive techniques.
Two published academic papers and one unpublished Master's project for a University of West Florida graduate degree.
Experience includes working at the Northwest Florida Daily News, University of West Florida, and for the Santa Rosa County Public Information Officer.
MA in Strategic Communication and Leadership, University of West Florida.
BA in Communication Arts/Public Relations, University of West Florida.
