About Brenna

I am highly proficient in all manner of painting and drawing media. I graduated with my BFA. I am very comfortable teaching watercolor, gouache, acrylic, graphite and charcoal drawing, oil painting, and some printmaking. You don't need to worry about any judgement on my part, I am very supportive of anyone wanting to be creative and acquiring more skills to express themselves. I believe as an art teacher I serve to help you learn materials, good ways to use them and basic skills and to assist in developing a creative process that works for you.

I have worked at a sign artist for about four years as well as worked as an illustrator for a fine arts publisher. I really do have skills and knowledge of the commercial and professional art fields.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

Drawing was one of my majors when I received my Bachelor's of Fine Arts from Cornish College of the Arts where I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2006. I have worked as an illustrator for a Fine Arts Publisher in Seattle; completing works for their line as well as that of Ethan Allen. I can honestly say I draw every day and my main source of income is as a sign painter for two grocery stores in Seattle where I illustrate on signs daily.

I paint several times a week, primarily watercolor and gouache these days but I am highly proficient in acrylic and oil as well. Wonderful with children!

Brenna taught a watercolor lesson to 24 elementary students grades 3-5. She showed them a model of what they could paint, demonstrated on the board how to draw specific elements that could be included in their paintings, and patiently went from student to student to answer questions and help them solve problems.
