About Rachael

For fourteen years, I have tutored students in English language skills, reading, academic writing, history, literary interpretation, SAT I reading and writing, and AP literature assignments. Most of my students are high school or college students; however, I have also tutored Japanese engineers, working here in the U.S.
Each student has a unique learning style, which I recognize and use to make each lesson as efficient and productive as possible.

My favorite subjects to tutor include academic writing assignments at all levels and literary interpretation. History fascinates me; therefore, I enjoy helping students with their history assignments as well. Since I have a JD degree in Law, I am able to help college students with their law assignments.

Since 2005, I have taught intensive SAT I writing classes during July and August while working with individual students during the school year on SAT I grammar, structure, usage, and vocabulary.
Another favorite of mine is assisting students with their college application essays. My former students now attend or have graduated from colleges and universities across the United States.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
