I am a recent graduate from Bradley University in Illinois. I moved here to be closer to family. I chose Early Childhood Education as my course of study because of my love of working with children.
During my education in Illinois, I worked with a variety of students in various settings. I was an America Reads tutor for approximately 4 years during which I worked with students and families. I aided their students in increasing their skills in reading, spelling, vocabulary, writing, and grammar. My students ranged in ability from having learning or behavior disorders to being gifted and talented.
I completed my student teaching experience in an inner city school in a first grade self-contained/inclusion classroom. My students required individualized attention and plans according to their behavioral needs. I created lessons plans and newsletters weekly, taught lessons, administered and scored assessments as well as maintained records of students learning.
I also had the opportunity to be a student aide at a camp for gifted and talented students during the summer. I was in charge of creating and implementing indoor and outdoor recreation activities as well as the daily duties of safety and assistance.
I am trained in CPR/First Aid/AED. I am currently employed as a Behavior Therapist working with children with Autism using ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis). I have been working in this field for the past year.
