Bio

I am a college graduate with eight years of professional tutoring experience. In 2011, I was valedictorian (had a 4.0 GPA) of a high school class of 450 students, and I received a 2300 on my SAT. I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and double minors in French and Poverty Studies at Washington and Lee University in Virginia in May 2015. Currently, I am working in a Harvard University/Brigham and Women's Hospital lab researching HIV cures.

In August, I’ll be starting medical school at the University of Washington.

I have helped over 50 students raise their SAT scores an average of 200-400 points by reviewing test content, teaching test-taking strategies, and identifying strengths and weaknesses to create unique study plans for each student. While I tutor in multiple areas, I find SAT tutoring particularly rewarding because it is such an important part of the high school to college transition, as is the college application.

SAT Student Score Improvements (this are just my four most recent students!):
Student 1: Improved her score from 1450 to 1550
Student 2: Increased her score from 1150 to 1450
Student 3: Improved his score from 1250 to 1470
Student 4: Improved her score from 1390 to 1570

I believe in working in close conjunction with parents to identify, evaluate, and monitor skills needing improvement, and I develop custom lessons and practice tests to target these weaknesses. I have helped with both specific homework assignments as well as long-term learning goals; I love helping students not only catch up to their peers, but also acquire a passion for learning!

I would love to help your student succeed on the SAT, or learn and improve grades in French, math, or the sciences!

French

I grew up taking ballet, and I fell in love with French language and culture from a young age. I have taken French classes for eight years (throughout high school and advanced college classes), and I graduated with a minor in French. I studied French literature and art history abroad in Paris at the Sorbonne for six months as well. If you are looking to learn basic French for traveling, are struggling in a current elementary to intermediate French class, or just want to learn a new language, I would love to help you learn this beautiful language.

When I first started tutoring for the SAT, I realized that students were worried about the entire college application process, and not just the SAT, so I now offer college counseling as well. I have helped numerous students successfully navigate the college application process by helping them find schools that are a good fit, brainstorming strong essay ideas, and editing essays together so their personal statements are clear, effective, and show their true voice. I love helping students reach their dream schools!

Awesome Tutor!!

I can't say enough about Stephanie. She has helped my daughter tremendously!! My daughter has struggled in school forever. Stephanie has changed the way she approaches problems, puts it into a simplistic form where she learned to break down problems in many subjects, and it took the anxiety completely away. Success!!! Stephanis is very kind and understanding and brilliant. I would recommend her 10000 percent!!!

Excellent tutor!

My daughter was hesitant to try an online tutor initially, but once she had her first SAT lesson with Stephanie, she was willing to continue for more sessions. I am not always available to listen in on these lessons due to work but Stephanie provides me a thorough recap after each lesson which enables me to follow my daughter's progress. Stephanie is very thorough, patient, energetic and well prepared. She provides a lesson plan before every session which helps set the expectations on what will be covered. I highly recommend her as a tutor. In fact, I have already referred her to two other students who are currently using her for SAT prep.

Patient, Prepared, and Perky!

I had the amazing opportunity to have Stephanie as a tutor, and I am so glad that I was able to have her prepare me for the SATs. Since it was the last SAT I could take before college admissions, I was definitely stressing a lot. Stephanie was able to keep me calm, cool, and collected with her excellent preparation skills. She truly goes above and beyond in her test preparation services as she creates a personalized study plan for each of her students. She ensures that one focuses on his or her weaknesses, and I could not be anymore pleased. I was able to increase my score in my most troubled areas (Critical Reading & Writing), and she even helped me perfect some math skills that I did not know I had difficulties with. She definitely prepares you very well for the exam, and she does so with a smile on her face! She was always understanding of my scheduling conflicts, and she can and will work around your schedule to make sure that you are comfortable with balancing school and test prep. Stephanie encouraged me throughout every lesson that we had, and I felt more and more prepared every day. With frequent check-ups on my progress in between lessons, she portrays the qualities of a true servant leader and genuinely wanted me to succeed. She has a positive attitude and friendly aura that makes her stand apart from the other tutors here on WyzAnt. I cannot thank Stephanie enough for everything that she done for me because she has changed my future through her tutoring services, and I would recommend her for all of her services! She treats everyone with respect, and she is a genuine, down-to-earth individual that will cater to each of her student's needs.
