I am a college junior with five years of professional tutoring experience, and many more years of helping my three younger siblings with their homework. I was valedictorian at Henry M. Jackson High School in 2011 (had a 4.0 GPA) and received a 2300 on my SAT. I am a Biology and French double major with a minor in Poverty Studies at Washington and Lee University in Virginia.
I tutored a 6th grade student and an 8th grade student in math, helping them both maintain their math skills over the summer as well as build their skills to reach grade level expectations. I have also helped students prepare for state standardized tests and the SAT. I believe in working in close conjunction with parents to identify skills needing improvement, developing lessons and practice tests to target these abilities, and creating games and activities to make learning fun. I have both helped with specific homework assignments as well as long term learning goals.
I've also had experience leading science experiments for children both in the classroom and in science camps/Girl Scouts. My senior project was writing a science book for children and teaching a classroom of third graders. I am passionate about helping kids not only catch up to their peers, but also acquire a passion for learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I grew up taking ballet, and I fell in love with French language and culture from a young age. I have taken French classes for six years (throughout high school and two years of advanced college classes), and I am anticipating being a French major.
If you are looking to learn basic French for traveling, are struggling in a current elementary to intermediate French class, or just want to learn a new language, I would love to help you learn this beautiful language.
