Hi, my name is Rita, and I got my graduate degree from George Washington University in Chemistry. Although I started my career in research, I developed a passion for teaching when I started volunteering in my kids classrooms. I have taught for more than 20 years in school, college, private individual and group settings. I enjoy teaching different math skills and am proficient in teaching through Algebra II. I also enjoy teaching science subjects, like high school and college Chemistry and reading/writing to elementary students. I have also helped students improve their grades in school or to get ahead in grade level. If you'd like to take advantage of summer to brush up on math, science, reading or writing, please feel free to contact me. I believe that all kids have the potential to learn and solve problems if given the right tools of teachings. I am a very patient person and also had the opportunity of working with students who are on IEP. Please email or call me to work out the rates as they might be less or more than the posted rate, depending on the distance traveled and/or subject, level taught. Thanks and warm regards!

Rita worked with my 9th grader on math homework and prepped him for the coming week. He felt very confident and appreciated the clarity with which Rita communicated and explained math. Very grateful!
Rita was very patient and helpful in giving my daughter tips in algebra. My daughter is excited that she now understands her math and is looking forward to another tutoring session.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
