Elissa did a wonderful job helping my son in French. He feels more confident in it from her help. I recommend this tutor to anyone needing extra help in the subject.
Elissa is a great tutor - providing everything from grammar lessons to pronunciation. A particular exercise that has been helpful is to listen to a story being read in French, transcribing it, and then repeating it. Elissa is very creative and keeps things moving.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I know how to approach teaching English to Foreign Speakers due to having studied French, Hebrew and Russian from excellent Professors. I use their methods when I tutor English and focus on helping the student to hear the Language properly by listening, speaking and working hard on helping the pronounce properly. Once a student hears properly, they can then speak and understand. By using the Language in this way, grammar skills will follow.

Having taught English to students for whom English was a new language, I have experience teaching phonics as that is a major part of learning language.
I tutored young children who spoke English as a Second Language to help them improve their failing Reading Grades and I included pronunciation and phonics in my teaching.
By correctly pronouncing words, they were then able to better comprehend the words and also to understand them.
